Surprise Induction & C-Section
I went to the doctor 2 Tuesdays ago and my blood pressure (which had been 120/80 all pregnancy) was 170/100, so I was told to go to the hospital for evaluation. When I get there, they have me relax in a reclining chair and my bp doesn't go down at all. I was with my mom (thank God I picked her up on my way to the hospital), and I'm so glad she was there, because almost immediately they told me that at 35 weeks 3 days I was being induced because of preeclampsia. they put me on a bunch of blood pressure meds and after my DH arrived, and we finally told him I was being induced, the started cytotec. After that didn't work they tried cevadril, which didn't work, either. They gave me 12 hours break then did a balloon catheter to try to manually dilate me then gave me pitocin.... that started working. After 3 days of attempting induction, Ethan Ryan was born via c-section when his heart rate started to jump high. He was 5lbs 8oz, 18&1/2 inches, born on 11/07, his mommy's birthday, yup, I delivered him on my birthday. After 4 days, I was discharged and the next day, after just 5 days in the NICU, DS was discharged. He is 2 weeks old today and doing incredibly well. I feel like I never had surgery.
Not the way we planned or expected, but incredible none the less. I will forever remember the sound of his first little cry.

Congratulations Jess! He's adorable! Glad he had such a short stay and is doing so well!
I didn't realize that we delivered at almost the same exact point. I actually went to the hospital at 35 weeks 3 days and delivered 3 hours later at 35 weeks 4 days. DD was just 4 pounds but hopefully her stay won't be much longer than Ethan's.

Which hospital did you deliver at?
LIJ nhp, it is a gorgeous hospital and their NICU is incredible.
