I am a first time home buyer and I just wanted to get an estimate the monthly oil bill.

My house is about 1,000 sq. ft and I pay $183/month, for 12 months as I am on a budget plan.

We have a 250 gallon tank and fill it roughly two or three times in the winter. Then again in the spring, summer and fall....Figure 250 at 3.00 gallon (slightly more, just making the math easy) is $750 about 5 or 6 times a year so roughly between 300 and 350 per month..

i'm about 1400 sq ft? i typically use 550-600 gal / year. which is about $1800 this year, $2100 prev years
2 yrs ago i was budgeted at $200/mo for 12 mo (ended up paying off early or being ahead)
last year i paid by the delivery
this year i am balanced at $300/6 mo then I have to pay if i go over @ end of year

I have 2400 sq/ft and use about 1100-1200 gallons a year. At 1200 gallons that's $329 a month at $3.29 a gallon.

There are so many variables to consider when figuring out heating costs- Ask the people you are buying the house from they will be able to give you the most accurate information.
