How far in advance would you color your hair before major event?

Its really just my roots, but the dye is very dark and I am fair skinned so usually takes me 2 days to get all the dye off every single area. My salon is close from the 29th of dec to jan 7th. The next appointment is January 8th. My daughters sweet 16 is January 10th! I was hoping to do it a week before. If I do it on the 28th grays will be peeking out as I dye my roots every 3 weeks. would you do it that close? I color just to cover grays.

I planned on a week and they are closed, scared to go to new person prior to major event but I have to do it 2 weeks before or 2 days prior if I go to my regular salon. that makes me nervous. I will not last 2 weeks without some gray

If it's basic color I'd go to a different salon. When I used to get color it was hard to get it off my skin if they got a bit on my skin and also I wouldn't wash for 1-2 days to let it set. I think a week before is good

Ask them to put a little vaseline or other oil along your hairline, neck & all over your ears. Should prevent the dye from staining your skin
