Genetic testing
So, my panorama test results came back normal for chromosomal abnormalities ,but the genetic testing showed that I am a carrier for Zelwegger syndrome ( an illness that kills the baby within the first year of life ) I was told that dh has to be tested to see if he is a carrier. I know the odds of this being a problem are really low, but still a little unsettled. Any one deal with something like this ?

Re: Genetic testing
I have not dealt with this. Thinking of you.
The chances of dh also being a carrier are low though so I hope that's the case.

Re: Genetic testing
I'm not a carrier of that disease but I am a carrier for cystic fibrosis and hubby had to be tested during my first pregnancy. It's scary but important to know. If your hubby comes back negative your children will be fine. Just know that your children can become carriers as well.

Re: Genetic testing
Crashing but I found out I was a carrier for a metabolic disorder through genetic testing. Very nerve wracking but fortunately my husband was not a carrier. The genetic counselor was very reassuring that it is very rare they encounter two ppl who are married and carriers for the same obscure disease. Good luck!!! Hope those reassuring reaults come back fast!

Genetic testing
My Uncle died as a child because of something carried by both his mother and father. But my dad and my other Uncle were fine.
It's worth peace of mind making sure neither of you are a carrier. If he is a carrier to then you can deal with it. In this case it was a gene that is carried by Italians. Since my dad married a German he didn't have to worry and it didn't show up on my tests.
Get him tested before you panic over it. If he doesn't have the gene then you don't even have to worry yourself.

Genetic testing
So Dh is going to be tested tomorrow. Hopefully we will have our results by the first week of February. Will be a long wait, but I feel this is worth knowing. ETA: if anyone else has an positive stories with these kind of circumstances it would be reassuring to hear them.
