Failed my 1 Hour Test -- UPDATE/QUESTION AT TOP!

And for some reason I'm really upset, started crying, the whole nine yards. I have to go this Saturday to do the 3 hour test, which I am less than happy about. Anybody fail the one hour and pass the 3? My score on the 1 hour was a 152. Ugh Chat Icon

Update/Question: Thanks for all your feedback, ladies! I know that I must fast tonight starting at around 8:30, but can I drink all the water I want?!?! I have horrible veins and there is no way they are getting 4 blood draws from me tomorrow dehydrated.

Failed my 1 Hour Test.....

With my first PG I failed the 1 hour by a point or two and then passed the 3 hour.

Failed my 1 Hour Test.....

I wouldn't worry...gestational diabetes usually shows close to 200 right away. Out of all the women who fail the one hour only 1/3 end up actually having GD.
I know it's a pain in the ass and sitting anywhere for 3 hours hungry and bored is not an ideal time...but don't get yourself too upset over it you'll be okay :hugs:

Re: Failed my 1 Hour Test.....

I failed my 1 hour and passed my 3 hour a week later. No reason I should have failed it, my numbers from my 3 hour came back perfect. Good luck!!!

This was unfortunately not the case with me. I failed the 1 hour by 10 points. Failed 2/4 draws of the 3 hour by...10 points.

This isn't true at all actually. You can fail by 5 points or 50 points and still have GD. I've had it twice already. That being said you can certainly fail the 1 hr and pass the 3 hr. It's just that the number doesn't matter.

I just went through this last month. I cried and all too! I brought my computer to the three hour and it really wasn't bad. Bring something to keep you a little busy. I passed my 3 hr too! Good luck!

I failed the one hour with my second pregnancy and was so upset about it since we were about to go on vacation and I was dreading having to follow a diet. But then I passed my 3 hours with flying colors - not only did I pass, but my sugar was low!

That's why I included the word "usually" sometimes not the case but 1/3 is actually the true statistics of women who failed the 1 hour but ended up actually having GD. Just hate to hear someone cry and get upset when a lot of the times these tests all create false positives. Makes us mommies way too emotional!

Re: Failed my 1 Hour Test -- UPDATE/QUESTION AT TOP!

Yes - you can drink water tonight. Tomorrow during the test you will not be able to drink/eat anything though. I brought a huge thing of water thinking this was going to be able to hold me over...but they told me it could affect the test. No eating, drinking, major walking around...I basically sat and played on my phone the whole time watching the clock.

Failed my 1 Hour Test -- UPDATE/QUESTION AT TOP!

Just spoke with the lab tech -- all the water I want before the test, but not allowed to drink any once I drink the glucose drink. Fasting for at least 8 hours - I have a 7am appointment, so eating cutoff is 9pm. Hoping everything goes well!

Yup, I agree. I was actually under the cut off for the 1 hour by 2 points but my ob has everyone who is close do the three hour. Turns out I did have GD.

Anyway, to the OP- good luck tomorrow. I hope everything comes back just fine. Most people who fail the 1 hour don't have GD but if you do it will be fine! As long as GD is diagnosed and controlled, the outcomes are fine. I had it and my DC was perfect at birth! Good luck!
