$H!T! I failed my 1-hour glucose test
I already did the test at 12 weeks, which I passed with flying colors and was required to do another one this week because of my age. I just got the call that I failed and "badly", especially because I was fasting. Hang on, I wasn't fasting and I told them that at the lab!!! Anyway, I still have to do the 3-hour fasting now.
I am so disappointed because I have been really good with my sweet intake. I'm not overweight (under if anything) and I have been trying to do everything right. Oh, and I'm slightly anaemic also and have to take extra iron.
Any more good news???

Re: $H!T! I failed my 1-hour glucose test
sweet intake and weight really don't have anything to do with it... sometimes it just happens (as is the case with me).
ppl have commented "oh you have GD? but you are usually so skinny..."
IF you are over your recommended weight it MAY increase your risk but that doesn't mean you're immune if you're generally thin.
also a LOT of ppl fail the 1-hour and then pass the 3-hr.
good luck!!

Re: $H!T! I failed my 1-hour glucose test
You have seen me, im not large by any means and it happened to me!! my age (35) and my immune issues could influence it also, sigh.
I also failed the 3 hr, its was borderline but my high risk doc wants me to be conservative and had me meet with a dietitian, go on a low carb diet and test my blood 4x a day. It's really not so bad. Do whatever the doc tells you and you will be just fine !
I hope and pray you pass your 3 hr, keep us updated !!!

Re: $H!T! I failed my 1-hour glucose test
GD is caused by the placenta and hormones. You can be over weight, under weight or just within your weight range and get it. because the range of preggo's that get it is so vast, they test everyone, not just those who are at higher risk. really ANYONE can get it.
eating more sweets or not eating any at all... doesn't have a bearing on it either.
I had it and was on insulin for it.
I failed my 1 hour by about 30 pts and then failed the 3 hour as well. The GD diet didn't work for me and i ended up on a lot of insulin.
good luck... hopefully you pass the 3 hour.

Re: $H!T! I failed my 1-hour glucose test
I just had my 1 hr yesterday morning. I'm really hoping I passed.
My fingers are crossed that you pass the 3 hour.
