those of you- esp with SIRM and Dr. T.- intralipids question
were your intralipids IV covered? My friend did this and her insurance fought her but they eventually paid for it.
the coordinator at SIRM said the infusion is covered but the meds maybe denied. The nurse will call and find out from pharmacy what the cost is when I am ready to do this. She said if its not it would only be a couple of hundred dollars- not bad bc I thought it was in thousands but I'm not sure.
trying to get all my things in order before moving forward.

When I had them done with Dr. T it only cost like $40. I used the pharmacy in the city that they deal with and they delivered it right to his office. They weren't covered either but that was the cost. This was last year though. Not sure how much it is now.

Thanks, I'm looking online on my ins website now. I also heard they do this in the home too. my friend had a nurse cme to her house. how long is each treatment?

It's about 2-2.5 hours. I recently used Trinity home health care, went through Dr. Kofinas and it cost me about $180 for the nurse, supplies and intralipids because my deductable was not met.

I was about to answer on your other thread andthen I saw this one. I did the intralipds at SIRM. A nurse does it. The actual infusion was covered by my insurance GHI. The medication was not. It was $75 from Krupners. They deliver it right to the office.

Yes it can be done at your home by a nurse. Trinity has their own nurses that they can send. Or if you have a family member or friend who is a nurse who knows how to administer IV; they can do it for you too.
They like to see the drip run a course of about 2.5-3 hours.
The cost was minimal. Its Usually the IVIG transfusion that costs thousands; not the Intralipids.

some of mine were even longer depending on how the iv went. but yes, i always paid 75 thourugh krapners. my old ins covered it but my newer one didnt.

Yes. They give you a small room with a bed or reclining chair. I was always in and out in less than 2 hours. They schedule 3 appointments a day M-F. I think the times were 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00- something like that. You go in and sign something. The nurse Boula hooks you up to the IV and it starts. You sit there. I would be on my phone or read a magazine. The time went by fast. I went before my transfer and then every 3 weeks until 16 weeks of pregnancy.
I have no idea if my insurance would have covered in home. It was easier for me to just make an appointment there and pay my $15 copay. The meds were always $75 from Krupners and I called them in a few days before my appointment. I hear there are places where the intralipids are cheaper.
The first time I did it I was nervous and freaked out. After that I got used to it.
Any questions, just ask.

Good luck. Another thing that was different with Dr. T is he put me on Lupron in the beginning. If you have any questions or need to talk I'm here.

Good luck. Another thing that was different with Dr. T is he put me on Lupron in the beginning. If you have any questions or need to talk I'm here.
He is doing a minimal stimulation on me for next cycle. Femara and maybe a low stim injection- I do not produce many eggs regardless of the amount of meds so he wants to let me go through my cycle as natural as possible. :)
