Homeowners Insurance - Deductible Question
Is it normal or common that the deductible is a percentage of the dwelling coverage limits? Or are there policies that have a set deductible amount, like a $1000 deductible.
TIA!
ETA: If you have a set deductible, would you mind sharing what insurance company you use?
Thanks

Re: Homeowners Insurance - Deductible Question
I have a set deductible of $1000. However, if the damage is caused by a hurricane its 5% of the dwelling coverage.
We use State Farm.

Homeowners Insurance - Deductible Question
Your main deductible is a set deductible for all claims, then depending on your location& the carrier you may have a hurricane/wind deductible on top of that, which is a percentage of your dwelling coverage. Most of them are either 3% or 5% if you have one. You should also check to see when they go into effect. Some carriers start them if a Cat 1 storm hits, some not until Cat 2, etc...
Please let me know if you would like me to shop your policy for you, I deal with so many different carriers, it doesn't hurt to see if you can get a better rate :)
