Homeowners insurance question

Doing my due diligence here Chat Icon how much do you pay for homeowners insurance if you DON'T live by the water? House is a split about 1700 square feet and we got a quote from MetLife who we use now for our co-op of about $1800. I thought that the was high so if you don't mind how much do you pay yearly?? TIA

Re: Homeowners insurance question

Thats pretty high. I would definitely get more quotes. If you have the average coverage; it should be close to $1K; if not; under.

My split is not by the water, just under 1900 square feet, and we pay about $1800 a year. Even when not in a flood area, on Long Island insurance rates can be high because they charge you for wind coverage.

I have a good insurance broker contact,, who can shop around for the best deal for you. Let me know if you want the info!

Re: Homeowners insurance question

I think that's about what I pay for a similar home. You have to remember that not all insurance is the same. There are different types and levels of coverage. You could get the minimum that your mortgage bank requires or you could get extra bells and whistles. So to just throw out a number is not necessarily comparing apples to apples.

Homeowners insurance question

There is so much that goes into an insurance rate, it is hard to compare your house to someone elses house, even if it is the same size in the same town.

I would be happy to shop the policy for you. My company deals with over 15 different carriers.

Feel free to message me here or you can email me at [email protected], or call 631-650-4036. If you email me and I do not respond right away please let me know sometimes certain mails get caught in our spam filter....
