Talk to me about ankle boots

I think I might want a pair

I love flats, but in winter they aren't practical. I'm not really into riding boots this year, but that seems to be my only alternative. I don't wear Uggs or anything like that. I have a very specific type of ankle boot I'm looking for, but my question is, how do you wear them? My idea is to tuck skinny jeans into them (I'm looking for something with a cuff), but I don't have stick skinny legs, they're pretty average.

Thoughts?

I have these by Steve Madden. Most of my skinny jeans/pants pants go over the top of the boot. They don't really go up high enough to tuck pants into them.

I wear the black ones with dresses and skirts as well as skinny pants and jeans tucked in.

I wear the brown ones with skinny jeans and pants tucked in.

I also wear both under boot cut jeans and pants.

I wear ankle boots all the time. I generally will pick ones that are not top tapered like the previous poster. All of mine you are able to tuck for a lack of a better word my skinny pants in. I also feel it gives width to my lower leg to balance out my larger hips/butt area.
