Do you need sulfate free shampoo with this kind of straightening?

No because it's permanent, you won't lengthen the amount of time the treatment stays in your hair.

That being said, sulfate-free shampoos are generally found to be better for your hair but you would also need a silicone-free conditioner to go with it (sulfates are pretty much the only thing that gets rid of "cone" build up in your hair).
