I believe most of the people on this board have been around for a while. My oldest will be 9 next month and I went out and good nursery furniture. In my head he was going to use it until college. A year late I had my DD and I had the same thought. 3.5 years later and #3 came along and did the same.

Now, there clothes barely fit in there draws and I feel like it was such a waste of money!! The draws are so shallow and not width of each draw doesn't fit DS and DD's pants if I fold them. Even the shirts, I could only fit so much in each draw.

I was thinking of selling there furniture. Anyone else been thinking about the same thing? What have others done?

I'm confused - you bought 3 different sets of nursery furniture when each was born?

I bought nursery furniture when my son was born. I used the same furniture when my daughter was born - at that time I got my son older children's furniture.

When my daughter was 3, I sold the nursery furniture and bought her a children's set as well (we knew we weren't having any more kids) and sold the baby furniture.

Yes. My first two kids are 15 months apart so I still needed a crib for baby #1 when #2 came along. There cribs converted to full size beds. So when #3 came along the older 2 were in beds already, and I wasn't really paying attention to the size of there clothes in relation to the draw size.
The girls only have a bed and a dresser. DS has a bed, chest and the changing station.

I passed the baby furniture from ds to dd but I made sure to get furniture with deep drawers so it could last. I would not have done white, but it was a condition of the gift from my parents. I do like the style of the furniture though.

We bought nursery furniture but it seems to be regular size as far as the drawers. My DS is 9 so we obviously don't use the crib anymore, but we have a tall set of drawers and a chifferobe ( I think that's what they called it) - it has drawers on one side and a door with shelves on the other - low like a dresser. Everything fits fine it. We bought it thinking he can use it until he moves out as an adult and so far, so good. It is Bellini if that makes a difference.

My kids are 5 years apart. They both used the nursery furniture and then we sold it.

My 11 yo and 8yo are still using their convertible "nursery furniture". The drawers are full-size, and we even bought an extra bureau from DD's set for our own bedroom, so the furniture is definitely good enough for adults.

My nursery furniture was handed down to me from my sister but I don't see it lasting for the kids when they are older, I'm assuming that's why my sister gave it to me....my kids are 16 months apart so when it came time to buy my dd new furniture because my ds was going Into the nursery I bought a crib from ikea and I bought regular dresses from ikea to go with it...my ds will probably need new furniture when he gets older

I have a Bellini nursery set, but I don't see an issue with drawer space. Same size as drawers in my room.

i bought my older son nursery furniture that grew with him - most drawers are normal size - two are small
while he can use it - i wish i did not buy it - i think i would rather have him in a twin or a loft bed but now i don't want to waste the money we spent on the matching dresser - i did not plan his room with a full size bed when we got the crib and it does not work well

for his brothers we got huh rated inexpensive cribs and dresser - there drawers are small but i will get rid of dresser when i get bigger kid beds

My DC's dressers & tallboys are standard size.

In regards to cribs:
I don't regret purchasing my DC #1's beautiful crib, but I hated how heavy it was and how difficult it was to change the sheets. So for the other 3, I bought Jenny Lind cribs because 1. I liked the classic/retro style, 2. I liked that they were easy to move and 3. they were "disposable" because they were on the cheap side. Chat Icon

I'm ok with their dressers and armoires, my regret is the crib/bed. They both gnawed on their cribs as babies, so now their footboard has teeth scrapes on them.

Not to sure what you are talking about. I never heard of "nursery furniture". I get that your kids are close together in age so you needed to buy three sets. I bought the grow with me crib converts to full size bed and the dresser and end table is "normal/average" size. I also bout good ones that are built well. Some posters did the same thing and their kids are 10 and still have them. My son is five and his set is like brand new. Kids do not spend a lot of waking hours in their room anyway.

Re: For those that bought nursery furniture, do you regret it now?

I got convertible cribs and a dresser for each of them -
but I didn't buy 'nursery' furniture - It could go either way ........

I agree that the drawers are not deep AT ALL - but they are no deeper in ANY dresser because unfortunately everything now is made like garbage.
That is exactly why, although my sons have PBK and Stanley furnture, I still have Ikea - but at least at Ikea, the drawers are deep enough to fit my stuff !! Chat Icon Chat Icon

DS i bought furniture on clearance so it was like $400 for crib and dresser.

when he turned 4 i bought him a "big boy" set that will grow with him until he leaves for college.

DD (coming next month) i bought a used crib and dresser which totaled $120.

when she's older ill buy her a big girl set too.

I guess nursery furniture isn't the right word. The sets do grow with them, but I guess the draw configuration of my sons set doesn't work for size 10 clothes. It's good furniture and made well. We bought it at Bear's in Seaford.
I may just start hanging his shirts.

DD#2 just has a tall chest. That was purchased at BBB. It has a lot of drawers but shallow. I will figure it out.

Thankfully aside from a crib and changing table we didn't buy nursery furniture. We use closet systems in all are rooms and are dresser free :)
When DS was born he got the crib. We could have gotten the conversion kit for it but preferred to just sell it.
