Bridesmaid Dress for 3ish Months Post Partum

Ok ladies I need some advice. I'm due on 6/28 and will be a bridesmaid in a wedding in early October. The bride just gave us our options this week and told us we need to order by May 1st. I know i should pick a dress a size or two larger than my prepregnancy size and can *hopefully* alter it to be smaller if need be. However, does anyone have any experience with a fit that might be more forgiving in case i don't bounce back like a kardashian? Chat Icon

Her only guidelines from these Bill Levkoff dresses is that it be navy, floor length, and chiffon. We can do any fit/ neckline from this link

Let me know what you guys think! I appreciate any input Chat Icon

I was in a wedding around the same time after my first. Unfortunately, the dress was completely not flattering on me---think mermaid on a 5 ft tall post partum woman! Not good.

My one suggestion is to think about whether or not you will be nursing and pick something comfortable for the boobs. My dress was strapless and I was DYING!

I tend to prefer an aline dress or empire waist dress. I felt the most comfy in things like that after my son was born!

@LDrinkH20 Oh my god, a mermaid dress is flattering on like 5% of the human population. I'm thankful this bride is thoughtful in giving us choices. She also has 10+ ladies, 3 of which are pregnant and due in either June or July so she really had to be flexible with us lol.

i really didnt even think about my boobs since i was so worried about my squishy belly! Good looking out for that!! Im planning on giving breastfeeding my best effort but wasn't going to commit to it in case it doesn't work for me. I was a pretty large chested lady pre-pregnancy so I'm thinking either way, i should definitely stick to something with support for the girls!

Thanks for your input!!

I would get something with straps so you don't need to worry about getting a strapless bra and maybe one that gathers in the front with an empire waste.

I have an excellent seamstress if you are interested please PM me.

Those dresses run small.
Be sure that you get fitted to it.
The boobs were def my limiting factor.

3 months post-partum, people were still congratulating me on getting pregnant. Be sure to order bigger & have a great seamstress.

I didn't know they run small, that is definitely a huge help!!

Im not sure it will do me much good to get measured now. I was about a size 10-12... so i'm thinking ill order something around a 16-18? This is tough!

I am normally a size 8-10 & they ordered me a size 12...or maybe it was 14. I think one style dress fit my at a size 10. It all depends on the breast size. This was well after pregnancy & after I got my body back.

Maybe something like this:

I wouldn't get empire waist because I think it might make you look pregnant still. I agree with the others though that you should get something with support.

Bridesmaid Dress for 3ish Months Post Partum

Ok quick story, I was in a wedding less than 2 months after having my son. It was a chiffon dress and we ordered when I was like 5 months pregnant. Not knowing how I would look after they ended up ordering me a size 16! I'm normally a siZe 8 in dresses! Now my normal measurements put me at a 12 in that brand dress so they figured two sizes would be fine but it was huge on me! Now being chiffon they only took it on on waist/ stomach area but the actual skirt part was just left alone and looked ridiculous!! Oh and by that time I was only up 10 pounds from my pre pregnancy weight!

@SPERM1NATED I was thinking one like that! I feel like it's fitted enough that i wont look pregnant but loose enough near the hips that if i still feel pregnant, ill be comfortable. hahahha

@Erica4886 AHhhhh see that's what i'm a little afraid of. I might need to talk to the other pregnant bridesmaids and see what they're doing. I feel like a lost lamb lol

I agree with this. I would stick with something slightly fitted. Anything too flowy can def make you look pg.

I was in the same situation... due in March and my cousins wedding in June. Normally in bridesmaid dresses, I'm an 8 or 10. I had to order a 14.

Bridesmaid Dress for 3ish Months Post Partum

I was due December 6th, brother's wedding was February 14th, ended up delivering November 7th. If you search back 1 year ago, you will see my threads about my SIL choice of dress. It was trumpet, fit & flare, and VERY form-fitting, sheer top (so strapless bra). I went when I was 5 & 1/2 months pregnant for my fitting, we ordered a size 20, and it needed to be taken in so much (and I would have likely ordered a size 20 pre-pregnancy). Dress ended up looking HOT, by the way.

Re: Bridesmaid Dress for 3ish Months Post Partum

I was in a wedding 5 weeks after I had ds. When I ordered the dress I was between sizes so I ordered the size up. It fit very well at the time of the wedding & I had a little bit of extra room, but never got it altered down. I remember at the dress shop they were trying to get me to order a few sizes bigger & I'm so glad I didn't because then it would have been huge & I definitely would have needed to go for fittings.

Re: Bridesmaid Dress for 3ish Months Post Partum

I went to a wedding 8 weeks PP and wore an old dress that I had in my regular size (4). I personally would not order a dress too big; maybe one size larger than I normally wear. By 3 months post partum, I was back to my regular size.
