8 months post partum
anyone feel like their bodies are still not back to normal?
I feel like something is off.
I've been dieting since February and am only down 8lbs. My skin is terrible - I've been breaking out like I'm 16, I feel like I have more hair on my body than a gorilla, my mood swings are off the wall (poor DH ), I have random heat flashes like I'm going through menapuase, I'm so sluggish...etc.
I have an appointment to see my OBGYN in a few weeks. I just wanted to see if anyone else had symptoms like these this far after giving birth? Could my hormone levels still be out of wack this far along?
I'm really depressed about this all
ETA: I also wanted to mention that I have ZERO sex drive. None what so ever...I have no interest in it at all.

Sounds like your hormones are definitely off. The acne, hot flashes, hair growth, etc Plus the weight could be bloating and water retention if that is the case
Definitely speak to the OBGYN about it. They will probably test your levels and you may need some meds or something.
Good luck!

Weight isn't an issue for me but the hairy-ness is...also the sweating. But I ask other mommy friends and they all just say that's normal after giving birth...like it doesn't go away. So it's not something I ever worry about - I just say "ew gross I'm a hairy sweaty beast now that I'm a mom". I am sluggish but always have been b/c I hate to exercise...so no change there. Curious to hear how your appt goes and if your hormones are out of whack or not. I honestly just think it all comes with having had a baby...things change and don't necessarily go back.

Re: 8 months post partum
I am 5 months pp and I feel like something is kind of wrong. I had a c section and I am scared that something either didn't get put back correctly or maybe I have inner scarring. I have this weird abdominal feeling all the time. It feels full and sometimes tender, almost a burning sensation.
I also have bad back pain and have now started physical therapy.
I have no energy. All of a sudden I have high cholesterol which I have never had. I am still up about 18lbs and I feel like helllll.

Re: 8 months post partum
Yup. I've been dieting since January... but I lose 1 pound about every 2 weeks. I'm in it for the long-haul... so it's OK & getting there.
My body still doesn't look as nice as it did before, but it's on the way. belly is still weird shaped... but it takes time. It's much better than a few months ago (look at photos).
My face is almost back to normal (I looked swollen for a long time).
Funny you mention the hair thing. I was noticing that a little while ago. I'm not sure what that's about, but the hormones must be off somehow. I have the same thing & it's annoying. I have darker hair, which I used to be able to ignore on upper lip (fine, blond, non-visible before) & now I'm getting it waxed.
As for the moodiness... I think my life is really harder, so I can't tell if it's hormones, or just more stress on a tight schedule.

I'm 5 months PP and I still havent gotten my period and my hair started to fall out My weight fluctuates, but I am greatful that I lost the baby weight. I have mood swings that I'm sure drive DH nuts, but he drives me nuts so we're even!

You are not alone! The hot flashes lately are killing me. I am exhausted all the time. My fuse is very short these days. My hair looks like crap. Luckily I lost the weight I gained with DD in November. But it's the weight I gained prior to getting pregnant that won't go away. I finally started seeing the pounds coming off since starting WW 2 weeks ago. For the first time in my life I am in allergy hell.

Honestly, after going to the OBGYN, I would make a regular appt with your regular doctor.
I felt the same way a few months ago, that something was wrong, and my OBGYN didn't even take blood!
Got a full physical from my doctor though!
I am 9 months PP and I feel like I am FINALLY back to "normal" almost. lol

Re: 8 months post partum
I agree with Tilde. go to your regular doctor. My OBGYN was like it will all go back. just give it time. I had major issues which my OB failed to diagnose and treat since she was only concerned with monitoring my blood pressure numbers.
Your regular doctor can do all of your blood work and do a complete workup. Even my dentist was going to have me do blood work post partum due to some of the issues i was having. I couldn't understand why my OB didn't send me in the first place.
Now at 10 months pp, i'm just about back to normal. Still got 10 lbs to lose, but feeling much better overall.
