Decaf coffee?
Is Decaf coffee OK during pregnancy? I have been drinking decaf only a few times a weeks bc I love the taste of coffee, but I don't want all the caffeine. Someone was telling me yesterday that there are lots of chemicals in decaf coffee that is used to take out the caffeine. Is this harmful for the baby!? I am freaking out a little. I usually lay off on coffee all together with past pregnancy, but I have been craving coffee with this one....

Re: Decaf coffee?
One of my Drs mentioned the decaf thing with chemicals, but lots of people drink it. I drink regular coffee everyday. Not even a full cup though.
I believe everything in moderation.

Re: Decaf coffee?
I am upset my doctor never told me! I can't drink regular coffee bc it upsets my stomach and gives me the jitters! Now I am totally turned off by decaf, so I will not be drinking that anymore anyway. I am just upset I had no idea about the chemicals in it, but reading a few sites, many say the beans don't come in contact with the chemicals and if they did, they would be boiled off....I hope that is true!

Re: Decaf coffee?
My cardiologist told me that decaf is not the same as no caf.she told me Sanka is the only no caf coffee. I'm not sure what the chemical components are. I drink one cup of coffee every day, usually not the entire thing just because I don't want it. My doctor said its fine. I'm not worried about it. I drink so much water every day that I figure anything bad is being flushed out. That could be entirely inaccurate but it's what I want to believe so it works for me.

Re: Decaf coffee?
Tons of chemicals in everything processed... That being said, I drank decaf with both my pregnancies & my kids do not have 2 heads.

Re: Decaf coffee?
Sumatra decaf at Starbucks is made with the Swiss water press method, no chemicals. And it's delicious! I buy a bag and make it at home.

Re: Decaf coffee?
Lots of pregnant people drink decaf and things turn out fine so don't stress. Going forward you can get organic decaf which is not processed with the chemicals so then you don't have to think about it.

Decaf coffee?
Just drink a cup of regular if you're so worried about decaf. You can have up to 200mg of caffeine per day.

regular has also bothered my stomach and gave me jitters so I just wanted the decaf for the taste of coffee. I know caffeine is allowed in moderation, I just never realized or thought of how decaf was made bc I never drink it really. I am sure a cup of decaf a few times a week isn't harming the baby, but if I would have known about the chemicals, I probably would have just avoided it. I have my 12 week sono Tuesday, so I will ask the dr.

Decaf coffee?
I drink regular coffee. If it upsets your tummy try tea! Tea will calm it down and it's just as pleasant to drink :) I can't stay away from coffee...but drinking iced DD coffee is usually mostly melted ice and milk anyway!! Hah.
