baptism?
Hi ladies, need your opinion. I'm due in about 3 1/2 weeks and the conversation of a baptism has been raised by our families. Do you think it is too early/bad luck to be booking things before the baby is even here? I would prefer to do it while I'm still on maternity leave and doing it over the summer would make it easier for my OOS family to attend. I'm a planner by nature but I can't help but feel funny about this. TIA!

Re: baptism?
I think its personal preference.. if it is a time of year/place that books up fast and you rather have the date because logistics wise its easier, then go ahead and book it...
Personally, I am waiting until the baby is here to start to plan (due early July, looking to do the Christening in October hopefully). I also do not have OOS relatives going though.

Re: baptism?
My church encouraged starting the process before the baby is born so you can do the parent class and not have to find a babysitter etc.
I am doing a joint one with my sil, I had my baby already but she has not. We booked everything already and have been planning. I see no problem with it. You're 3 weeks away, not like you're months away ya know.

Re: baptism?
With ds1 I started before he was born. I had to take a class which we did while I was still pregnant. By ds got baptized early though at like 6 weeks.

Re: baptism?
I was on bed rest during my first pregnancy so I booked the whole thing during that time since I had nothing to do anyway. Initially I was a little superstitious of doing that but then I realized it was way more convenient for me to think practically.

I booked the whole thing, including the parent class, back in November and I had my son in January. His baptism was this past weekend.

We booked it the week after she is born. We have class next week and we are doing it the end of May, she will be just over 2 months.

baptism?
I wish I had done it before DS was born. My church was only baptizing 2 kids a month (to keep it more personal) and it took forever to get a date. I called the church right after he was born - beginning of May. We then needed to meet with the priest and take the class which brought us into mid June. Only after doing those things could we book the actual christening and the first date available was October! Needless to say, my church now does 6 baptismals a month...

baptism?
I started the process after she was born and was home from the hospital. She was born in April and was baptized in August. My church had a bunch of dates opened before then. But dd godmother was coming in from VT and I had to make sure dates worked with her before I committed to anything.

Thanks for all of your responses! We are meeting with the Pastor next week to discuss. I wasn't aware of a class so I guess it is good to start looking into it now. I don't why I was feeling weird about it. I've been researching day cares for months so why should this be any different, right? Aiming for the last sunday in July when baby will be almost 3 months old. Thanks again and congratulations!
