Swelling

What are you guys doing for swelling? I work in the city and by the end of the work day, my legs and feet are twice the size! So uncomfortable and not pretty.

Re: Swelling

Cut your sodium- watch out for chinese food, cold cuts, anything packaged or frozen or canned.

Drink a TON of water- I was drinking like 100 oz a day

Elevate your feet

When it was really bad I would elevate and ICE my ankles.

To be honest, towards the end NOTHING helped, except delivering my DD

Re: Swelling

I had awful swelling with DS1 - but had the good fortune of stopping working (commuting to NYC) a month in advance. I swelled pretty badly by 25 weeks, and nothing I did helped it.

This time around, my swelling only just started (29w) - but the commute is really taxing me. I've started to work from home on occasion (grateful that I can sometimes). Stayed home yesterday - and I've felt better all day today as a result.

I also always have compression stockings on. I'm sweating my a$$ off, but it's worth it for how it controls the swelling.

Feet elevated whenever possible.

Thanks ladies. I'm definitely not drinking enough water. I've never been good with it and it feels much harder when pregnant.

I also work from home on occasion and hoping to do more as I get farther along. Have a little over three months and I'm wondering how I'm going to make it!

with my first pregnancy I swelled up a lot no matter what I tried , water Epson salt, elevating feet and I really don't eat salty foods. nothing worked for me. With this pregnancy I am not swollen at all sometimes you can't help it.

Re: Swelling

I'm 36 weeks and still commuting into the city, though I've cut down to 3 days per week. No matter what I do, my feet are gigantic by the end of the day. My hands have started swelling, too. Just drink as much water as you can, avoid salt, and try to keep your legs elevated at work. It's hard at my desk - I just have a box underneath. When I'm in a meeting, I put my feet up on a chair next to me around the conference table. Mostly, it's normal, though. As long as your bp isn't elevated and you aren't having any other symptoms (headaches that don't go away, blurry vision or floating spots) then you should be fine.

Yes, my Dr told me that sometimes it is just how the baby is laying....they can be compressing something that helps the fluids return etc
My DD was definitely laying bad- between the swelling and the sharp pain that I would get shooting down my thigh that would stop me in my tracks and sometimes almost knock me to the ground!
