Re: Kindergarten Assessment
My school takes about 45 minutes. She had to.sing the alphabet. Write her name. I m 's she had to cut out a dinosaur only because she got to keep.it to.color at home. It's very low.key and as stress free as they can make it

Kindergarten Assessment
I remember it being about an hour, maybe 45 minutes. They just want to assess all the kids to see where they are at. Some letter recognition, cutting, stacking blocks, etc. There were several rooms set up with different areas of testing and the kids moved from class to class for each segment. They make it fun. My son got stickers.

Re: Kindergarten Assessment
Ours was held in the school's gym. They had several tables set up with different activities. About 6 kids went in at a time, and they rotated around the room.
He had to recite the alphabet, identify letters and numbers, point to colors and shapes, count items, hold a pencil and write his name, color, cut paper, identify basic body parts (his head, shoulders, elbows, knees). They also do a speech assessment.
Based on this assessment, they can see who might need a little extra help when school starts. Some children don't know the alphabet, some have difficulty with colors. My district offered a 2 week program over the summer to assist kids with with any weaknesses they had, but this was only offered to children in need.
It also helps identify children who might need additional testing once school starts for learning delays or other issues.
