What to wear to a broadway show?

I haven't been to a broadway show since I was a teen. I'm going to see Fish in the dark this weekend. What do you usually wear to a show? Dress or dress pants, are you jeans and a nice top good?

You would be appalled by the way people are dressed - I promise you, if you have ANY concern with how you 'should' dress, you'll be dressed fine
If you're comfortable in a dress, that works, I usually go that route in nice weather, I'm not much of a pants person.
You can also wear nice jeans and top/blaxer etc ..........
People show up in shorts and flip flops - I hate it.

its so sad. i remember going when i was a kid. id wear a dress with stocking and nice shoes. my dad would wear a suit. my mom would wear her fur coat (this is before I would have killed her for wearing one). now people don't give a sh1t what they wear.

Anything goes, really.

Bring a sweater though - the theaters are usually cold!

As for being appalled by what people wear - just a note, lots of us in the industry receive last-minute comps and go straight from work. We were just offered comps for a show tonight and if people here in our call center are in jeans and tee shirts, then that's what they'll be going to the show in. I know that's not the case with everyone, but it is more common than you would think to need seats filled.

Not many people get that dressed up for Broadway shows anymore. I like to wear a nice pair of jeans and shirt with a blazer and either flats wedges or heels. You can dress that up a bit with some accessories.

I ended up Wearing black dress pants and a nice top and heels. I would say that most people were dressed up nicely.
