Is there a trick to protein shakes? My shakes seem to come out super thin and a small portion size - am I not adding enough liquid, or too much ice? What are your tips and tricks to make filling shAkes?

Maybe add a frozen banana and blend it? That may help thicken it up - also ice cubes. The regular Shake in the bottle ones are never thick.

I started using the GNC Lean Shake 25. At first, I bought a 4 pack of the Swiss Chocolate pre made to be sure I even liked it. I did, so I went and bought the big canister to make my own.

Completely different shake all together. Hated it. So I returned it and bought the pre made ones. In the end, it's like $2 more a month and they are delicious!! They are creamy and I feel like I'm having a choc milk shake every morning. Sometimes I add frozen banana or pineapple and put in my magic bullet.

Yes! I use it as a meal replacement for breakfast. It's 170 calories of pure delicious lol

I lost 5 lbs in 2 weeks by just replacing breakfast. Then it went to the usual 1 lb. here, .5 lb. there and now I've added exercise. DH said he is noticing that my arms look thinner and you can see my muscle definition more.

They are definitely helping with my calorie control

It's not the powder. It's the pre made bottles. So no need for a shaker. The powder was gross. I returned it and got the bottles. Swiss chocolate. Delicious !!!

shakes

Can also get by the case

Love shakes

I do pure protein powder (I think that's the one. It has less calories than most and less sugar) - I just do a little.

Then add in whatever.

I just had an ice and banana shake with some probiotics mixed in.

When I first bought my powder for shakes, thankfully, the girl at whole foods told me to use my magic bullet bc it makes a huge difference. If you have one or a blendy ball shaker- give that a shot! HTH

Re: Shakes

I drink Shakeology every day... LOVE it. I make mine with peanut butter, 1/2 a frozen banana, cashew or almond milk, ice, 1/4 cup of quick oats and sometimes chia or hemp seeds... Comes out just thick enough! I blend it in a Vitamix. Chat Icon

Re: Shakes

When I make my shakes I always play around with the amount of liquid, ice, and frozen fruit. I drink a shake every day for breakfast and for the most part it is 1 cup of almond milk, a cup of ice and some other things that I throw in it. I started the year on the vanilla shakeology with my husband, but it got very expensive for 2 people. I then switched to Profit because my friend was selling it, and I love it...so much that I started too as well.

Re: Shakes

Are you looking for a meal replacement?

The thing with protein powders is, from what I've researched, they aren't meant to replace a meal.

I'd add a low glycemic berry to your meal replacement shake. No more than 1/2 a cup of either strawberries, blue berries or raspberries. You can mix it with unsweetened chocolate or vanilla almond milk in a blender with ice to thicken the shake with the berries as well.
If you like peanut butter, try the PB2. Place it in your shake.
I love PB2.
A nutritional meal replacement I have tried is by the brand, Vega One. In my opinion, the French vanilla is the best tasting.

It's filling and will usually keep your hunger under control.
Just keep in mind you should drink lots of water daily,
Usually drink half of your body weight in ounces. Eat healthy snacks every 2-3 hours to keep your metabolism up.

I started adding peanut butter or bananas and upping my water intake and definitely seeing a difference.
