If IVF wasn't stressfull enough...waiting on the doctor to call UGH
I did an egg retrieval on Saturday. They were able to retrieve 22 eggs which I know is fantastic. I received fertilization update Sunday morning they said 18 fertilized.
We are opting to freeze all since my doctor told me it was a great option for me and I really wanted a break from everything. My doctor was really promoting to freeze all because he says there are better birth weights and pregnancies associated with frozen embryos. Well I was told on Sunday you would hear on Thursday how many embryos made it to day 5 blast to freeze. We discussed only freezing day 5 and called it "blast or bust".
Well today being Thursday I have been anticipating this call all day. I have been nervous and scared, what if nothing made it. By 1:00 pm I called them. The nurse tells me that the embryologist will call me back soon. Well almost two hours pass and still nothing. I call again I am leaving work soon and wanted to know before I get on the train home. She says well the one of the embryologists is on vacation and they are swamped (really not my issue). She said she was going to ask to see if they can at least give me a number for now and they would call me back with the report on what grades. She comes back on the phone and says ok we were able to freeze 5 so far but they are working on the rest. I said OK but I was told they would be able to give me all the information today I have been waiting for this. Then she said something I did not like. She said "well sometimes our staff gives out wrong information" then snickered. I said well honestly that is not acceptable since this is very important. She laughed it off and said sorry. She promised a nurse will call me tomorrow before 11 am.
So far everyone and everything has been great and the staff have been good but this annoyed me and I needed to vent.

In defense of the office, sometimes they like to give the embryos to day 6 to see how they progress. You'd hate to pay to freeze embryos that were not good quality.

I would have been fine with that. They never informed me of that though. They told me on the phone all would be done on Thursday and I would get a full report. I think they should have the facts straight before telling people a date they would get the news. I hate when one staff member says things like well that person gave out the wrong information and snickered, which to me indicates that happens often.

Nothing yet, I just called and they didn't answer. I called another office and they took a message. Very frustrating.
