Returning to School
I'm considering returning to school.
Right now I have a B.A. in English and an M.S. in Elementary Education. I am dual certified in Childhood and Early Childhood Education.
I recently left leave replacement/substitute teaching for a job in a different field, which I feel is not for me. I am struggling in this new position because most of my responsibilities are my weaknesses.
I am looking to pursue a career in higher education. I also was the librarian at the school I was in for a full year, and loved that. So I'm trying to figure out if going back to school is a good move. I've tried literally everything else I can think of (had my resume redone, met with career counselors at both alma maters, met with the alumni director of my alma mater to discuss careers in higher ed, went on an informational interview at a college, etc.). Going back to school seems like my only option at this point.
Which degree would be best for job opportunities? I would be getting certified in K-12 on top of getting my degree in library science. And would a certificate program make it easier to get a job in higher education?
Anyone in these industries feel free to comment or FM me.

Re: Returning to School
I know this forum doesn't get a lot of traffic. Lately I've been on Reddit a lot and they seem to have forums for specific career paths. Just another suggestion!

I cant answer about the library science part but as far as higher ed goes I do not see that degree that necessary to working at a school. I have been working in higher ed for 10 years and my masters is in counseling. A lot of the jobs at area colleges may start off with really low pay but it can escalate pretty quickly.
