Congrats! That's great! One thing to ask them--ask if they are regionally accreditted. Some of the online programs are not as legit, which means the degree isn't really worth much. If they are regionally accreditted it means they have to adhere to certain standards.

Re: Guess who's returning to school?
I just wanted to tell you that I am going through SUNY Empire for my online degree and it was a lot cheaper then a lot of the technical schools because it is part of the SUNY school system. Good Luck, I like learning online one bit of advice I would give you is to keep on top of the work each week. I see a lot of classmates that don't and then get lost. As long as you are disciplined you will do great. Also it may seem overwhelming at first since you are essentially teaching yourself but just keep at it and it gets easier. Also like nov04libride definitely make sure they are regionally accredited because if they are not then the degree could be useless if you want to pursue other avenues later on and continue on in school, I had this happen to me and no one would accept my credits. That is why I decided to stick with a SUNY school because the degree makes no mention of it being an online school and all schools accepts the credits. I wasted alot of money on a degree that was no use to me and I would hate to see anyone else go down that road.

Re: Guess who's returning to school?
Just wanted to echo the RA concerns - many schools will say they are "accredited" or "nationally accredited" but what you want is Regionally accredited. If it's not, most employers and grads school will not consider it a "real" degree.
Good luck!!

The Arts Institute isn't actually regionally accredited, it is accredited by the Association of Career and Technical Schools. That means the credits won't transfer to most other schools (any SUNYs, CUNYs, and most private schools). It's in the Katherine Gibbs category, which isn't a huge deal, but it can be if you ever try to transfer the credits or get other higher degrees.

It's a degree in the same respect that Katherine Gibbs gives Associate's degrees. It's not like you can't say you have a bachelor's, but some employers may know it is not accredited, and many schools won't take the credits. So I don't know if the degree would be worth much to employers.

The Art Institute of Pittsburgh isn't accreditted, that's the problem. Pratt and SVA are private, but accreditted, and well-known and highly regarded.
What to do is up to you...It's a lot of money that may not get you a job at the end. There is a BA in Arts program available at SUNY Empire State online, which would also be much cheaper...
