Back again after a long hiatus......
Hello!
Wanted to give a little background since I will probably be posting more often now. DH and I started TTC in September 2013. We got pregnant on our own 8 months into trying but I had an early natural miscarriage. Once we reached the one year mark we started seeing an RE. They diagnosed us with male infertility (sperm antibodies that block the good sperm from where they need to go). They decided IUI would be the best route for us. We tried one IUI cycle without meds that didn't work. The next cycle I did injectables and I got pregnant. Unfortunately at 7 weeks the baby stopped growing. I had to have a D&C the day after my birthday and right around the holidays. It was a really rough time. This whole process really took a toll on our marriage as well. We went through even tougher times with our relationship during our fertility "break" and at times I was worried we wouldn't make it through. However, because of that I am happy to say we are stronger than ever now and are back on track with TTC.
Due to a job change/different hours we also switched RE's (some would say to a "better practice" as well). After some testing our doctor believes we should go straight to IVF due to the male factor (DH's recent sperm analysis came back with a count of 10 million, motility at 40% and morphology close to 0). I was really overwhelmed at first and DH felt really bad even though I always reassure him that this isn't his fault and completely out of his control. I figured we would try the medicated IUI again but the doctor doesn't recommend it. My job has decent coverage for fertility so I'm trying to focus on that positive. We are scheduled to meet with the doctor on Monday to go over the whole IVF process.
My current blood work also showed heightened levels of TSH. I have been on synthroid since 2013 but always worried that my thyroid had something to do with the miscarriages even though the doctors always said it was at an okay level. This new RE increased my synthroid dosage so hopefully that helps. They also told me my hemoglobin A1C levels were elevated and to try to follow a moderated low-carb diet. I am pretty physically fit but guess I need to lay off the pasta, womp!
Anyway sorry this is so long. I'm sure I will have lots of IVF questions and appreciate having this board/you ladies to turn to! Spreading good baby vibes to all!

I'm praying for you & your DH that you'll only need one IVF cycle.
You have me at the "laying off the pasta, womp!"

Re: Back again after a long hiatus......
Go see dr vaswani for thyroid and dr Kofinas for perinatal testing. Tsh and other thyroid numbers need to be even lower then what typical docs want for optimal conceiving chances and a healthy pregnancy! They saved me and baby and I have thyroid issues too
