Are constant fetal hiccups bad?
At first I thought it was really cute that my LO has hiccups in the womb but in the last 24 hours, it hasn't stopped and I didn't sleep well last night because I felt he was hiccuping the whole night. I thought maybe it could be braxton hicks but they are seconds apart. I know hiccups are normal but this much? I don't want to get nervous over nothing...I feel so bad for my little guy!

Braxton hicks are a contraction of your uterus. You'd definitely know the difference. They are getting used to swallowing so hiccups are totally normal. I find them incredibly annoying as well

Yes, the more I thought about that, the more I realize it would be different.
So this may be a phase as he's learning how to swallow? I haven't complained much this pregnancy but if this is going to be constant the next 18 weeks, I'm going to go crazy!

I don't think it's a bad thing but if it's really non-stop it wouldn't hurt just mentioning it to your dr. My first got the hiccups 6-8 times a day. It was insane! My second barely hiccuped in comparison!

Re: Are constant fetal hiccups bad?
Hi Rachel, I have been experiencing both braxton hicks and the baby hiccuping and there is definitely a clear difference. With braxton hicks your stomach gets so tight and hard as a rock for a few seconds and then releases. The hiccups (to me anyway) just feel like several little pokes equally apart. They both started for me around the same time which was 21 weeks. I went to an emergency appt last Monday because I was concerned about the braxton hicks but brought everything I was feeling up, and they said the hiccups, braxton hicks etc is normal. So I wouldn't worry. :)

I haven't experienced any hiccups but my sister had them going on all the time! I have a perfectly healthy nephew now so I'm sure they were nothing to worry about.

Thank you ladies! It's still going on all the time---I think I just feel really bad because I hate the hiccups like everyone else! I also wish he would get them more during the day than in the middle of the night.
