zika virus concerns
hi all - my husband and i booked a trip to st john in march like the day before the zika virus news came out. now we don't know what to do, since i am not preg now (that i know of!) but would like to be! my drs office basically said that they are recommending that people ttc avoid tropical places.
he is in favor of just holding off on ttc until after the trip, bc this is actually a christmas gift from his parents. we've looked into moving the trip up, but the hotel doesn't have availability. i would rather find an alternative place to go, but he wants a relaxing beach vacation and so we can't think of somewhere to go.
does anyone have any suggestions or ideas where we can go?

I don't know, we are in the same position. I just heard on the news this morning that Brazil is recommending everyone wait 2 years to TTC because that is how long the side effects will last. We have a trip booked for 2 weeks from now and I have no idea what to do. I am not PG but it scares me for a lot of reasons.

I don't think they are recommending 2 years because of side effects - they are recommending 2 years as a precaution because they don't have a vaccine or anything yet.
I just spoke with my dr's office, and she said that all the studies have shown that if you get the zika virus, it is in your system for 1 week and then you are done with it, so if you have it and then get pregnant 2 weeks later you would be fine.

Well, after being the one in favor of us waiting, my husband has decided that he doesn't want to risk a condom breaking and then us being upset/concerned. So I think we might go to the south of France instead.

Sounds like a great plan! I'd personally rather go to France anyway
