Refacing a fireplace $$?
Has anyone refaced a brick fireplace? I would like to update the brick and change it to stone. Would anyone have pics and/or ballpark prices to share? Thanks!

Re: Refacing a fireplace $$?
we had our fireplace faced. it was a new install, but essentially installing veneer stone over cement board, a bump out floor to ceiling about 5.5 feet wide, with a step that got covered in brownstone, and a brownstone mantle. The material and install cost of the stone was around $2K.
I would think installing over brick would be a similar effort.

Re: Refacing a fireplace $$?
We were quoted under 1k. I think like 600 BUT that was in addition to a bunch of work we were having done, including cutting the fireplace down as it was an entire brick wall.
We went with a custom mantle instead.

Re: Refacing a fireplace $$?
Hello,
We did this and also converted our wood burning fireplace to a gas insert. My DH did most of the work himself, it cost about $1500 for the materials, not including the gas insert. If you have any questions please let me know.

Looks great! This may be a dumb question but for the gas insert - you need a gas line, right?

Yes, we hired a plumber to run the gas line. We are so glad we switched over to gas, its so much cleaner and we love it.

Re: Refacing a fireplace $$?
We did this. I think it cost a total of about $2500. That included:
Sheetrock both sides of the fireplace Stone facade tiles Stone ledge and mantle Labor
We used relatively expensive stone, so that added to the cost
