I got a quote about a year ago from Kitchen Magic- about $9000 to reface my small kitchen, add a large base cabinet, and put in laminate countertops.
We ended up getting new cabinets and granite countertops instead.

new cabinets are usually close in price to refacing- I'd quote both out, you'd be surprised.

go to belowwholesalecabinets.com
Danielle and I went to the place on sunday in Huntington station and we are waiting for our price estimate. The guy, John told us that we will save close to 50% on the cabinets. We got a price from family kitchens for Shrock Cherry - cabinets. The cabinets we want are between 11k and 15k. I cant wait to see where John comes in at price wise. His cabinets are solid wood throughout, and all sides are finished.

I don't know about pricing, but our house has refacing that was done by the previous owners - I would never do it again. We have had a lot of problems with the doors not closing properly and hinges breaking. It may be that they just went with a cheap option but I don't know for sure.
My grandmother had her kitchen refaced a while ago and loves it, but she lives by herself and I don't know how much use the cabinets really get.
