How much do you spend on DC birthday gifts?
Gifts for your OWN children, not classmates' parties, etc.
We have a small family and the grandparents will usually give cash, not gifts, for birthdays but, of course, I want my DC to have some gifts to open up.
DS will be 6 and DD will be 3.

How much do you spend on DC birthday gifts?
At that age, not much. They're perfectly happy with a few $10-$15 items

It depends. If we have a party, then we spend about 30. If we go away for a vacation, then we have spent $200 to make up for the fact that there were no other gifts.

Re: How much do you spend on DC birthday gifts?
I always throw them a party so if I'm spending 500+, I kind of look at that as their present and get them something really small. They get so much stuff I don't think they've ever even noticed. Plus, my mom always did their big gift and now my brother does so there is not much left over for me to give them!

How much do you spend on DC birthday gifts?
I have no limit. Its what she wants vs what I can get.
She doesn't 'want' much to start with. Sometimes it's a tshirt. Sometimes just literally just a party with her friends (no gift at all). Other times its a single thing that may takes us awhile to order but is uniquely special to her. I spent $200 on her xmas gift but she's still playing with it. I can't tell you what I got her for her past few birthdays because she's had parties instead. To me that is the gift. But we generally get her something small, unique and special for her only. Cinderella watch with her name on the face, necklace with her letters and Cinderella, Tshirt with (Cinderella of course!) or a small lego set. BB8 Tshirt, watch or cup. Small stuff
She doesn't need more junk. LOL

Re: How much do you spend on DC birthday gifts?
Usually about $100 - We save birthdays for the bigger ticket items - Bikes, new skates, Hockey jerseys etc.
My older son wants more $$ stuff, the little one not so much.
We've done a party for them every year ........I thnk this year (7) is going to be it for the older one. Next year we'll start the 'pick a few friends and do something" .....it's too much, his friends from school, hockey, camp, friends of the family, cousins ......it's like 30/35 kids at a party and THEN a family party after that ..........it's exhausting and $$$$$

How much do you spend on DC birthday gifts?
Not much. I always wind up throwing them a party so that is their gift. I do usually get them a couple of small things to open. I'd say maybe I spend $30-$40 on gifts for bdays, if that! I like to look for things on sale a few months before their bdays. If I see something on clearance a few months before their bdays that I know they'll want, I'll buy it and save it for their birthdays.

Re: How much do you spend on DC birthday gifts?
Up to last october when DS turned 10, we didn't give him anything because he has always had a party and plenty of gifts from it. Last year at the beginning of the school year he wanted a kindle, so we waited until his birthday and gave him one.

Re: How much do you spend on DC birthday gifts?
Traditionally, we've done family parties and spent about $100-150 on gifts for our kids, ages 3 and 7. Going forward, we've decided to plan fun family 3-4 day mini vacations around their birthday instead of gifts and parties. I feel like they have so much, there is nothing else they need AND instead of spending hundreds of dollars on a party that's over in no time we thought a vacation is a better idea and use of money. We get to spend time together, see different places, experience different things, and make great memories.

Re: How much do you spend on DC birthday gifts?
We usually do one big gift and then 3 small gifts. Depends on how big the big gift is.
On average - $200

Same here.
We usually have a family party (Cake, coffee) and they get gifts from family. Plus both my kids are summer babies, so we usually have a vacation planned during that time of year. We never buy anything big for their birthdays.
