roof: repair or replace

We have two issues going on with our roof that will cost $1600 to fix. There are both not super urgent, but not something we can put off for say a year.

We only have about 4-5 years left for our current roof.

I feel I rather spend 9k on a new roof now and be done with it then pay 1600 now and then 9k in 4-5 years.

The estimator did not bring up this idea, I did

My husband thinks I am nuts.

What say you?

Our roof does not match our home at all and that drives me crazy since we redid every single thing outside and a new roof would make the house look better.

Will we be in our home in 4-5 years? Yes probably, but even if we sold the house would look so much better and I wouldnt have anyone nickle and diming me that the roof is starting to go.

I think I win, what do you think?

Replace and shop around a bit. I just had my roof done and the prices varied

I would replace it. My thought on this like this is your spending money on a bandaid and you will end up spending more in just a few short years. We had the same thing with a pipe line- when we bought the house there were lots of "band aids" just to get our sellers by. Unfortunately now we have been fixing those band aid- while it is money, we know it needs to be done and done correctly. I HATE wasting money so I would definitely replace the whole thing. I would shop around, get some prices.

Thanks ladies, I think we are going to replace for sure.

It is the same roofer my parents used a few years ago and they interviewed 5 or 6 companies. So I know I have a good company.
