Re: PTA fundraising money
All of the assemblies for the kids (they do about 6 a year), family fun nights (about 6 a year), field day, back to school picnic, end of the year dance for 5th grade, some field trips, they help offset the cost for yearbooks for families in need, they have purchased recess equipment (kickballs, soccer balls, etc).
They also give out small scholarships.
I am actually amazed at how much they get done!

PTA fundraising money
We pay for all assemblies at school. We fund the bullying program. We have a back to school movie night, 3 dances a year, staff appreciation luncheons, supply the school with clothes for kids that get messy during the day, deliver books/items to sick children, picnic at the end of the year. multiple scholarships, grants for clubs (this year we purchased robotics kits and items for the garden club) and a multitude of other stuff. The majority of the money goes to assemblies - about 15,000 a year.

Re: PTA fundraising money
Field trips all paid for by PTA so no child is asked for field trip money. Smart boards - white boards are in every classroom and a quadruple sized one is in the library. Assembly speakers, this month was a pirate, last month was a magician, the month before was Dan Gutman (my weird school author) iPads ( so they buy a cart, and it has 20 iPad minis per cart and they are moved from class to class in addition to computer class.) Artist in residence (every year the school hosts multi cultural day where there are about 25-35 different countries represented. Parents come in and showcase their home country, music, art, sport, dance, culture, writing, etc. Then that evening the entire school with parents comes for culture night where the parents make food from their culture. It is all amazing traditional ethnic foods from every continent. Afterwards the third grade class wears costume and does traditional dances from multiple countries.) it is an amazing, outstanding experience.

Just FYI - PTAs are not allowed by NYS to pay for field trips and it is not allowed by PTA insurance. Our district use to do it as well until an incident happened and the parents sued the PTA because they paid for the trip and not the school.

PTA fundraising money
ours goes back into our school Library and supplies
We make our money at a fair.. great fun.. like a mini carnival. We don't do any take home buy this or that stuff. But we make a lot of money on that fair. It's open to the public. Been taking AJ since she was like 4. bouncy houses, ring tosses, face paint, rides, bubble pits, cake walks, dancing, get your nails done, hair colored, temp tattoos, pie toss your teachers, water dunk your teachers, hamster ball roll thingies, fake fishing, fake duck pond, real petting zoo, pony rides. tons of fun!
crazy money.. all goes back to the school. all the kids have ipads to work on reading, robotics club has tech, art club has supplies, as does cooking, science club and every club, really. library is full stocked.
The parents contribute to the sister school for xmas and we also contribute for the food bank (crazy amounts of food, we fill up our lobby), we also contribute to our sister school library with books collecting a few thousand books as well as books for our district book sale.
