Curious what others do. My son will be starting kindergarten and my husband and I work. My younger child will also be in school and gets out a little earlier. I cannot be home on time. Do you have a sitter from 2-6? If so, where did you find that sitter?

Our district has after care from right after school until 6pm. He's been going since Kindergarten. On days I work during the week I get him at 5:15

I used paid after care in the school. That was a life saver.

I would have paid a sitter if we didn't have that.

Wasn't an option for me but a lot of people by me use grandparents.

Mine are older... my 8th grader has a key and lets himself and his brother and sister in. I will get home about a half hour after them.

Do you have a neighbor that could get your child off the bus and keep them until you get home? Does your district offer after care? Care.com also has a great reputation for having reliable babysitters.

Good luck!

Same - the after school program goes until 6:30 for our school. We get off at 5 but sometimes we leave him there to have dinner alone or exercise. :) It's ok, though, b/c he asks us to pick him up late b/c he likes playing with the kids there.

Thankfully my school has aftercare until 6 that I pay for.
If that wasn't an option for me I would have had to pay for a sitter.

our district has an aftercare program, my son will go til 6 and get picked up there by my mother in law who will bring him home. By that time I will have just gotten home.

local daycare often have a contract with the district to pick up and take kids to their center til 6 or 7 when parents can pick up
