Kitchen island question
Mine is level and still has a place where people can sit. I like it cause it gives me a lot of room when I do food prep.

Same here. One side has an overhang with stools underneath. But I think it's just a personal choice of what "look" you like. I think the one level is better for parties when you are using the island as a buffet.

Kitchen island question
I think it would totally depend on the layout of the kitchen.

Kitchen island question
Ours is level with seating on two sides, microwave and wine fridge on another side. I don't see why you would need two levels, I see that as just a design option. We do food prep and eat all on the same level.

Level surface. It makes the space more usable.
