school fundraising?
Don't flame me for this, but am I the only one that rather just give a donation to the school? I honestly don't need a $9 roll of wrapping paper that i can only wrap one gift with. I don't like to ask family to purchase anything because to be honest, I will then have 10 kids asking me to buy something for their school. If I buy from one I have to buy from all. And I can't afford to do that.
Then if I only buy one roll of wrapping paper, I look cheap.

school fundraising?
We just had a long thread about this a couple of weeks ago.
PTAs do not expect you to do every fundraiser that they send home. Maybe there is one that you find that you like and what to do that one. That is fine. If you just want to buy one roll of paper that is fine too. If you would prefer to donate say $50 or $20 for the year and not do any fundraisers that is fine too (you will still get the paperwork home but just don't participate). Its really whatever you feel comfortable with and no one will think you look cheap.

Re: school fundraising?
Do not feel bad. I only ask family if I think its something they want. The PTA does not expect everyone to participate in every fundraiser. They also would not think you were cheap if all you ordered was one roll of wrapping paper(if that was something you really wanted to buy). Every little bit counts.

Re: school fundraising?
I throw all that stuff right in the trash. I have no time or patience, I do NOT ever beg family or friends for anything, abd personally it ticks me off. In the trash without a second thought.

Don't feel bad at all. The reason so many different things are done is because what you like, I may not, and the next person likes something completely different. I'm on the executive board and there's plenty I throw away. We also have an "unfundraiser" where you can donate if you'd like to donate without participating in anything.

I never bother family or friends to buy anything. So I typically buy something for $25 and leave it at that. Well this year, the crap they are selling is just that - crap. So I just tossed it. I would rather purchase an extra box of world's finest chocolates when that happens in late winter. At least those people actually want to buy.

I purchase the stuff I don't mind having (the fall flowers, the coupon book) and toss everything else. The only thing I ask other people is the big one that has cookies, cakes, pies, and popcorn. I take it to work and my coworkers are nice enough to buy one item. I never bring anything else in or ask anyone else.
