Registry Etiquette question

Is it tacky to put a few gift cards on a baby registry if you are trying to keep the registry very simple? This would be on BBB and the amount would be $25. Not sure if friends and family would find that insulting..

Re: Registry Etiquette question

If I remember correctly I think bbb registries have a check box that's automatically checked off that gift cards are wanted. Either way I wouldn't have a problem if I saw them on someone's registry.

Personally I think it's iffy. If people want to get you a gift card they will; I think it would be better to have a smaller registry and then people will get the hint.

Heck no - whatever is on the registry I assume is something the mother wants, and if she wants a GC, easier for me!

I think it is fine. Just be mindful that there are going to be people who want to buy a non gift card gift whether there are items left on the registry or not and you might end up with stuff you don't want or need.

This. And even if you don't put it on, you're going to get some anyway.

Registry Etiquette question

I had lots of complaints that there was not enough stuff on my registry, because I wanted to keep it simple. I also didn't register for clothes, because I assumed people would want to pick out there own stuff. Once the registry stuff was gone, people either got me gift cards, clothes, or a combination of the two. I don't think you need to specifically ask for gift cards. I think most people know/assume that new mothers will need more than what's the on registry, so they get the gift cards so you can fill in the gaps later.

Also, most people give you gift receipts, so if you get stuff you don't need, you can return it and get store credit.
