My new approach

Im very vocal on FB. Im sure I am annoying some people, but I dont care. However, I am not debating with anyone anymore. Instead, Im just going to call them out on inaccurate biased articles (or memes) that are riddled with alternative facts. I am simply asking them to please supply the source and facts to back up what I know to be "alternative facts." Today, 3 people alone removed their posts when I called them out on the inaccuracies in the articles/memes they shared. One was from Breitbart, one was a meme about the Quebec shooter being a Muslim, and the other was on this "ban" being the same as Obama's 2011 order. I simply said this is not true, and backed it up with facts and sources and instead of going back and forth with me, bc lets be honest, the couldnt......they just took them down.

I am finding the best approach is to not engage in a debate, but open peoples eyes to the truth. Even if not them, maybe the people who are reading their posts. I dont care what your beliefs are regarding our differences in policy...that will always, and has always been there and that is OK. My problem is not being knowledgable about what it is you are posting.

Thank you for sharing.

I have been limiting my debate as well. I fall into it occasionally, but I've been about action from 11-9. (I know many people who are debating here are also taking action - just to make that clear. I am just saying I haven't had the stomach for it for a while.)

I actually came on here to check out your TAKE ACTION thread and bump it.

There is nothing to be said to people who think that starving refugees from Syria are the problem.

Nothing.

I "like" alot of stuff and share something here and there but I don't debate. My FB trump supporting friends don't respond to my political shares.

What I noticed is that die hard supporters don't believe facts (including today when factcheck.org) posted about Obama's so-called ban vs Trumps. The response was that factcheck is bias!

This is what I have started to do too. It's just getting to be too much.

My new approach

I think that is a great approach. Complete facts are key and by presenting the facts you're taking the emotion out of it which as we have seen here on various threads immediately puts people on the defensive.

Re: My new approach

This is great! I try not to engage, but today I was pushed over the edge when someone on my fb commented that after the Quebec attack Trudeau must be regretting saying he would take extra refugees. Fb is just so damn depressing.
