Steroid shots - anyone have them?
I ended up in labor and delivery last week because I still wasn't feeling well. Dealing with slight hypertension and signs of early pre eclampsia. While in hospital Dr asked that I get steroid shots. He is worried about having to deliver me early. I got the shots. Now I'm nervous. Does anyone have experience with the steroid shots? When did you deliver? Was baby healthy?

Re: Steroid shots - anyone have them?
I did. I had two doses of steroids while in preterm labor at 32 weeks. My daughter was born four days after my first dose. The doctors feel her lungs were fine because of the steroids. I am glad I had them.

Re: Steroid shots - anyone have them?
How many weeks are you?
Crashing - yes I had them (the full dose, 2 shots 24 hrs apart) at 24 weeks, and they started to give me a second dose 2 weeks later when I went into labor at 26 weeks, they shot me with them while I was in active labor I suppose thinking maybe they could stop it, but I gave birth around 40 minutes later so it didn't have time to reach her.
I swear I think the steroid shots are why she survived. We expected major lung issues and the possibility of her not being able to breathe and with the steroid shots, she was able to breathe (with cpap vent support). I don't know that there are really any disadvantages to getting them, and if there are they are far outweighed by their benefits. (I know there were different conversations about the potential dangers of use of steroids in the NICU but I don't think it's the same thing.)

Steroid shots - anyone have them?
Due to a placental abruption I got the shots at 32 weeks. I was on bedrest but ultimately delivered at 34 weeks. DS only needed the CPAP the first half of the day, he was breathing on his own beautifully by the end of his first day. He even came home with me 3 days later which is great considering how early he was. The benefits of the shots heavily outweigh the risks. Hang in there!

I had 2 doses since I had twins. Had them at 27 weeks back to back and delivered at 36. No issues with breathing

Re: Steroid shots - anyone have them?
I did the shots right at 24 weeks because my cervix was failing fast, managed to hold onto 35 weeks 6 days and no NICU for my daughter and a 48 hour stay for my son in intermediate care (not for breathing issues). So I swear by them.

Re: Steroid shots - anyone have them?
My best friend gets them every week because one kid was late and the other kid was six weeks early So her dr is trying to prevent her from going early

Steroid shots - anyone have them?
I had the shots around 26 weeks after I was put on bedrest during my twin pregnancy. My dr. explained it like insurance, you get it in case you need it. If you go full term and end up not needing the benefits of it then that's great.

Steroid shots - anyone have them?
Got them at 26 weeks since I knew I was going early with the twins. I wasn't in labor or anything it was just part of my care. I had the twins at 36 weeks. I never regret getting them my twins were breathing on their own without intervention. Best decision I ever made

Yes but only one. Placental abruption at 32 weeks Got one shot as the ob said one was better then none. She was born a few hours later. On a vent for 24 hours then room air. Now a healthy happy 9 year old.

Steroid shots - anyone have them?
I just had them at 33w5d. There is slight issue with High BP and blood Flow To umbilical Cord is borderline. My doctor called it insurance too. Being in hospital one day in bed rest and BP is under control and his blood flow is now normal
