inground pool questions (design)

Question for those that have inground pools..

What color liner do you have? Light, medium, dark? Do you love it? wish you went with a different color?

Does anyone have the liner cover steps? DO you like it? My fear is that it would be slippery and we also have dogs that I worry about wanting to go in and ripping the liner on the stairs.

thanks!

inground pool questions (design)

I have a light blue liner, it was here when we bought the house. I do like the color. I think we may have to change it in a year or two, I'm not sure if I would stick to the same color or change it. It's really up to your preference. The liner does not cover the steps, there are just regular white heavy duty plastic steps. They have indentations that keeps from slippage. My dog who is no little guy has been in there a few times, no issues.

Re: inground pool questions (design)

WE used a vendor on here Spechtacular. They were awesome.
We have a darker blue liner, and love it. Not sure what you mean by liner by stairs? Do you mean plastice WE have the regular liner around steps.

Thanks! We are actually using Spechtacilar too so I am glad to hear you liked them!

I am not sure when you did your pool but what seems to be the popular way now is to do "vinyl overlay steps". So basically the steps are inside the shape of the pool and the liner goes over them. We can choose to have the older way of the white plastic steps too. I like the look of the vinyl covered steps but worry about it be slippery and the dogs nails.

Re: inground pool questions (design)

We had our pool done 3 years ago. I dont have the plastic on my steps. I dont like that look.
They did a a vermiculite under the pool liner, so it was cushioned. It is done on our steps going into the pool as well. I hope that helps. I dont have the problem with my dog, because he is old, and we have a fence around our pool. Plus, I would worry about them scratching the liner.

Yes...I do. I would find that the plastic steps would be more slippery.

Re: inground pool questions (design)

I just redid my liner and went dark and I am soooo happy with it. I love the color it gives to the water so much more than my lighter one.

Though I will say I have seen lighter ones that I love too- they are more in the aqua/turquoise family though.

How big is your pool? Would you mind sharing the cost and company that replaced your liner?

We have to replace ours this year and our pool is 20x40 so I have a feeling it is going to be stupid expensive.

inground pool questions (design)

Our neighbors had a pool put in last year with liner covered steps like Diane showed. Their dog and our dog go in the pool and stand on the step (their first step is 48 inches deep, almost like a lounging area) and they haven’t had a problem yet (2 full summers and we are in the pool almost every weekend). We just always make sure the dogs nails are trimmed.

We have a medium blue color. I like it. Our steps are not covered (I wish they were). My in-laws' steps are covered and I like it. The whole pool, steps included, have a super soft cushy pad or something under their liner. The steps are not slippery at all.

18X34. I used Modern Comfort. They built our pool so when we needed to change the liner (and a few repairs) we went back to them and they did throw in some of the repair work for free with the liner change.
I will look for the contract to let you know how much it was.

Found it- we paid $1800 for the liner and install.
They did an amazing job too. It looks like a brand new pool.

It all depends on the size and shape of your pool. Prices will vary. Shop around.

Our pool was here when we bought the house. We have black plastic stairs and a light blue liner. I do like the look better with the stairs lined with the liner. External Image

Thank you! We love it, it definitely swayed us towards buying this particular house. Wish I could take credit for the design. :)
