My kids have been begging to go (ages 9, 9 and 10) so we are planning a trip in April. Looking mainly for suggestions on where to stay for the 5 of us.
Attraction suggestions other than the main ones would also be helpful.

Re: Washington DC
WE stayed at the Embassy Suite Convention Center in DC. Walking distance to soooo much! Great location, nice size rooms (bc they're suites) and good breakfast included in the morning. They even do a happy hour later on with snacks and drinks. Indoor pool as well to take a break. The Smithsonian museums are all free and close to each other to walk around. They love air and space especially. Lots of close places to walk to for dinner as well. WE did Carmines one night too.
ETA - zoo is great too, but would have to take a taxi from the hotel.
