Texture of hair changing?
I've heard that the texture of hair can change throughout someone's life, but never really believed it. However, my hair seems to have changed for the better over the past year or so. I had THE finest, flattest hair ever, and believe it or not, it's a bit fuller and has more natural texture now. If I air-dry, it even has some natural waves in areas now (which can be annoying - but still beats my old hair).
i'm not sure if this is a natural phenomenon, or the fact that my hair has been colored a lot in the past few years - and is now very light. Maybe the change is from damage? Either way, i'll take it...
Anyone had this happen, naturally or otherwise?

Re: Texture of hair changing?
I used to have pin straight hair as a child. In my late teens through my early 20s i would get body waves twice a year. Its been years and years since I had a body wave and my hair air dries with natural waves now. If I put product in and scrunch its even more so. Its not a great wave pattern and my hair is too fine and sparse to wear it like that but it always fascinated me how its so completely different now. I blamed it on getting so many body waves for so many years...but that really doesn't make sense since it grows out. Odd

Not the texture, but my hair color has changed over the years. I look at pictures of myself from 10 years ago and my hair is red. Not ginger red, but like a dark strawberry blonde. Now its basically brown, with a tinge of auburn to it.
I hate it and want my old hair back!

Re: Texture of hair changing?
damage can cause texture, but age changes hair too.
Mine is not as fine and flat as it used to be. It think it was hormonal--it used to be very oily
I also have waves on one side now . I don't know if that is from damage or from a scar I have on my head ( it didn't happen immediately after the injury, but it could have been noticable after all new hair came in in that area.

Hair definitely changes throughout your life! I'm sure products and styling affect it too, but i believe its every 7 years that your hair texture changes. I know its happened to me.. hate it, lol

Texture of hair changing?
I used to have wavy hair but after my last pregnancy, my curls are as tight as Weird Al and Bernadette Peters. I hate it!

Re: Texture of hair changing?
My hair has changed as I got older. I can't let me hair air dry without any product because it just gets big and wild. Whereas it used to be wavier, now it is more curlier and tight curls underneath. Takes too much work to make the curls look good. My hair doesn't blow stick straight either. It curls on the ends, not a bad thing, gives it more body. I refuse to use a flat iron.
Might have something to do with all the gray hair I have. Those definitely are wonky.

Yes gray hairs have such a coarse, wiry texture. It's so bizzare
