Best site/prices for Car Rentals
Where do you get the best price for car rentals, and how far in advance do you usually book (if that makes a difference)?

Re: Best place for Car Rentals
We used priceline last time. We started watching it early but the prices didn't move much so DH just booked it a month or 2 before the trip

I always use Costco. You don't pay in advance so if the price drops, you just cancel and rebook. I book and then periodically check the price.

This! We use Costco and saved more from any other site.

Same here, I've found the best prices at Costco. I just rented a car in October and then again Thanksgiving weekend. I kept checking and both times the prices went down and I re-booked.

Agree with Costco, too. They also sometimes offer additional benefits. Like I'm getting second driver for no extra $$ and some discount on our car seat rentals.
ETA: So easy to use, too. This post made me remember to check my rental car prices for our Feb trip and the price dropped $300 so I just canceled and rebooked. Woo hoo!

Re: Best site/prices for Car Rentals
Great thank you all. I am not a Costco member but my mother is so maybe I can book it that way... hopefully! Right now I am seeing a week rental for an economy car at $350 and I think that's really high... will keep an eye out.

You don't need to be a Costco member. I think it was only $5-$10 less when I signed in with my Costco account #. A lot of the rentals have no fee for second driver, free upgrade if available and unlimited miles. I have seen a few cars without the upgrade and with limits on total miles So just make sure you know what your getting.
Oh and if it's not an airport rental look at other towns nearby. Prices are not the same across the different locations.
