Ridiculous Vent
Are pencils made of sh%^ now?! LOL
Sorry, but we go through a ton of pencils when it's homework time. I don't know what it is? My sharpener or the sh%^y pencils they sell nowadays? Just can't get a good #2 pencil without having to stop to sharpen or see the point break off. Adds more time to homework

And the erasers are so dry they don't work or just smudge the paper even messier!

OMG right????
I swear DS has about 15 pencils in his pencil case and every single one of them needs to be sharpened almost every day!!
I ask him how hard are you pushing when you write that EVERY SINGLE ONE of your pencils need to be sharpened at this rate? He says they just break easily.
This is the third set I bought him since Sept.

I was just about to say the same thing. I only like Ticonderoga pencils, particularly the Envirostick.
Can't say that I have ever broken off the point.

This is the only trustworthy brand.
Unfortunately my daughter loves "fancy" pencils, aka the cheap dollar store brand kinds with pictures on them. And what I hate the most are the erasers that don't work and smudge etc. so then I have to buy new eraser ends for them. It's all so annoying.
If you can get your kid to stick to Ticonderoga, do it. WORTH the money!

We're still going through a pack of Target pencils I bought a year and a half ago. They are pretty good. When I toss them, it's usually because the eraser is worn down. I need to buy DD some separate erasers. We started using some of the holiday and prize box pencils she gets recently and they break constantly. I was just telling DD today I was going to need an automatic sharpener to keep up with the pencils breaking.
