Dealerships

How negotiable are they off of their advertised sticker price? What should you ask to be included, like automatic starter, 2 sets of keys, etc.? Is it better to buy or finance? Are there any perks? Thank you!

My husband sells cars. Usually it’s a base price and then add on. As far as negotiating the extras, it’s all up to the manager. I believe they always come 2 sets of keys, but remote start is pretty expensive and doesn’t usually come standard. Accessories will always cost you extra. As far as financing goes unless you can get a very low interest rate, it’s better to finance through your own bank because they will try to railroad you into a bad financial decision because the finance managers get kickbacks. Pre owned cars have an extra $995 dealer fee. This might not be how all places work, but the short answer is whatever the sticker price is, expect to pay more. You will rarely get less than sticker price with extras. Now if you are not opposed to getting a prior year model that is new, sometimes the dealerships have extra inventory that they are sitting on and need to move. It would be easier to haggle on those vehicles....

They have to make some sort of money so if not on the front end watch on the back end. We noticed the finance guy added on a lot of bogus charges. My coworker financed through the dealer just because they wouldn't give her 1k off if she didn't and shortly after she refinanced through her credit union because they offered a lower interest rate.

Your friend should have walked then. I had the SAME exact issue. I had my own financing. Get in there to sign the delivery paperwork, and am then told that the $1,000 advertised rebate wouldn't apply to me now since I'm not financing through them. I said okay, then I'm going to pass on the car, sorry! 20 minutes later, they changed their tune.
