plateau
I seem to be in a weight loss plateau. I tried a really high calorie day to jump start my metabolism, but that did not work. I am breastfeeding so I cannot go any lower in calories. Any ideas on how to override this plateau?

Just wait it out and make sure you're being accurate in your calories. If you're eating a calorie deficit, then eventually there will be a whoosh and you'll suddenly drop the weight.

i agree. since you're nursing, you're going to have to wait this one out. it's very frustrating, i know.
maybe you've reached the lowest your body can maintain nursing in a healthy way and as soon as you ween the baby you'll have a weight dump just fall off of your body.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head. I have heard that this is actually very common- that your body holds onto an extra 10lbs while nursing. I was just hoping that I was the exception.

i wish my body would have only held on to ten pounds back then. i think i carried about 35-40 until i stopped nursing. as soon as i stopped, i did a two-week diet/exercise plan and it all fell off of me.
there's an emotional eating roller coaster that followed lol... but at least there was a time when i did actually lose the baby weight.
if it's only 10 pounds. then that sounds about right for a healthy, active woman. i know it's not always easy, but try to enjoy the extra "curviness" it brings and know it's temporary.

plateau
What is your daily calorie consumption like? What is your current weight?
What is your exercise routine like?
What is your daily movement like?
How old is your LO?
------ One day of maintenance calories is not going to cause your metabolism to rev up. A diet break is typically 1-2 weeks at maintenance calories.
As for how to override the plateau, do you have an activity tracker? When you decrease calories, typically your NEAT (non exercise activity) decreases. An activity tracker that records steps might help you realize when you have been inactive for too long.
I have found a lot of valuable information on the IIFYM Women FB group. Even if you do not macro count, a lot of the women are very knowledgeable about weight loss in general. They even have a BFing group.

Re: plateau
Thanks ladies! I think I may have broke through the plateau, though I still seem to be retaining fat around certain areas. I was really tone prior to my second pregnancy and I am really mad at myself that I just let myself go. It's entirely my fault and I guess that I just need to be patient.
