Anyone else experience this or am I just nuts?

So I don't know if it's because I'm over 40 or if it's because I have 3 small kids or because in my field I see terrible and unusual medical issues or a combo of all but I have become a ridiculous hypochondriac.

For example, and this is TMI, last night, I had a stomach ache and went to the bathroom. Later, I felt nauseous. I had myself convinced I should go to the ER to get a CT scan to rule out any sort of issue. Could it be a bowel obstruction? Could it be a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm? Could it be stomach cancer? Renal cancer? Colon cancer? The list went on and on. I mean, it definitely could not just simply be something I ate or maybe a little bug I picked up, right? Chat Icon

Then my DH talked some sense into me ("shut up and go to bed" LOL) and then I laid there with racing thoughts and like this feeling in my stomach that is similar to when like you go over a hill in the car and your stomach drops? Know what I mean? I think I drove myself into some sort of anxiety attack.

Last month I went for a full cardiac work up because I felt chest pain. PS it was heartburn. HELLO!

Is anyone else like this? Or have I finally made my way to the crazy train? I am not an anxious person by nature so this is just so weird to me. (Feel free to tell me I'm just crazy LOL)

I am very similar. But I try to tell myself to give every problem 24-48 hours of suffering before I go see a doctor about it. I also try some holistic medicines/techniques - icing, heating, drinking teas, etc. etc. before trying to rush to a doctor.

One of the signs of early menopause is feeling like you are feeling. I do not think you are crazy.

REALLY??? Chat Icon That's interesting. I did not know that. Oddly enough, a surprise pregnancy was also on my running list of diagnoses last night. LOL

Lots of times I do chalk it up to hormones because I can be my usual self and then be in a panic over something stupid 10 seconds later.

Last year, I was worse. Not so much with the hyperchondria but just having anxiety, lightheadedness, feeling flushed, etc. I was keeping track of when it happened in relation to my cycle. Then I just changed all of my products to hormone free stuff, trying to eliminate any unnecessary hormone exposure. It actually helped. Then I started with my "I'm going to die tonight in my sleep because I have a pain in my toe that could be vascular, leading to a clot that could go to my lung and kill me" nonsense. Chat Icon

Thank you!

Same! Or, I REALLY consider what's involved in ruling out whatever whacked out condition I'm convinced I have and then I'm too lazy to pursue it. Like, for example, last night this was my thought: Oh, that's going to require a colonoscopy. Nah. It's not that.

I always get way more anxiety before my period. It's definitely related
Other things to avoid are soy products (which is pretty much in everything) because soy is very estrogenic.

Re: Anyone else experience this or am I just nuts?

With menopause came anxiety and depression.
Just enough to make me stop and think about what the heck was going on inside my head.

This. Before AF my entire body and mind go into a tailspin

But I will say, I was (am still to an extent) a major hypochondriac. I had more ER visits then I’d like to admit in my early 20’s. I was convinced I was going to die so many times from every/any thing. I took on so many illnesses from people around me, it was making me nuts. As the years went by and I lived , I started to realize nobody is immortal and it’ll be my time when it’s my time. So now when I have those nights I’m almost positive “this is it” I just go to bed lol when I wake up I say ok, guess it wasn’t my time yet.

Obviously if I feel anything severe or different than my norm, I get Checked out by my dr.

You’re not alone. I have no real advice

Sounds like you’re just anxious. I’m also anxious but my anxiety is more a result of others than myself. I’d have to be half dead to go to the ER but would be quick to take DD or DH.
