Thyroid and RPL?

Anyone have autoimmune thyroid disease and repeated pregnancy loss? I'm trying for #2, I'm over 35, and after one early loss in the Spring I consulted with an RE. She said my TSH was subclinical at 3.8 but I have thyroid antibodies and she started me on a small dose of synthroid. After I had the HSG, I got pregnant, but then lost it after 6 weeks. Now she is going to work me up with the RPL panel. But I wonder how much of it has to with the autoimmune stuff. Or maybe just bad eggs? I guess there's no way to tell for sure. We go for another consult in 2 weeks to decide next steps.

Your 3.8 TSH is high if you are trying to get pregnant. It should be under 2.5.

Are you also seeing an endocrinologist? My sister has thyroid issues, among other things, and also has a history of repeated losses. She is also over 35 and trying for #2 and has been for almost a year, seeing an RE for the majority of it.

I'm seeing an RE. I know 3.8 is high for TTC. My RE said they like to keep it around 2.5, or lower. I'm not seeing a regular endocrinologist, just the RE. We've been trying for #2 for about a year too.

Like you said there is no way to tell for sure. My TSH was around 3.5 and I now take synthroid to keep it around 2.5 or lower.

From what I have heard from docs, it is most ideal to have a TSH less than or equal to 2.5 while pg or trying. But it is possible to have a higher TSH and have a successful pregnancy.
