Nothing. We have minimal groceries, and I'm okay with that. The store isn't running out of food, and I really don't think we are going to be on a nationwide lockdown where people can't leave their homes.

Well I was in both ShopRite and Stop & shop today and i can tell you that they were certainly out of food....i mean completely bare aisles of meat, eggs, bread, frozen. But I think my normal stock of what I keep in the freezer should be good enough.

And why wouldn't they restock?

This is what terrifies me. That stores won't restock, either because the supply chain is delayed/interrupted or because the stores will be forced to close. I don't have room in my house for months worth of food for a family of 4. :(

Someone posted an article here about Italy where the whole country is locked down and even they are allowed to go out to stores...in a restricted way of course...but they are getting food and supplies.
Pharmacies and grocery stores are the only things allowed open.

I'm curious how this will impact vendors/suppliers. Eventually they will also need to be quarantined. So no production. Not to mention the demand they have now for all these stores running out of food/supplies. How can they keep up with that demand. It will be limited in every store.

I never said they wouldn't restock, I said yesterday they were out of food. I'm sure they will.ShopRite is 24 hours, I assume they probably get deliveries during the night and early hours of the morning. But I'm not setting up a tent outside waiting for a delivery truck. As I said, I think I have enough in my freezer, I don't need to contribute to the panicking masses.

Nothing, there was nothing left to stock up on. We have meats and snacks on hand. We’ll live without fresh produce for a week or 2. I have 19 rolls of TP left and plenty of blue dawn. If we run out of hand soap we will use that to clean our hands.

I did however order oil today. I saw we were low and got a price of $1.94/gallonChat Icon Chat Icon

Re: What did you stock up on?

Supermarket was pretty empty just now and they are furiously restocking shelves as we speak.
Didnt have trouble finding what I needed for our weekly shop.
Meat and dairy were a bit scarce though but they were restocking
Saturday night is a good time to go

My mom works at Stop and Shop. They can’t restock because they didn’t get a truck in last night because they are having a hard time getting inventory.

Re: What did you stock up on?

I read something interesting.

Stores are out of stock due to basic supply chain principles...everything is automated based on past sales, trends, etc.
The stores automated systems will adjust and the stores will again be replenished at adequate sale level needs.
We have not heard that manufacturing has been put on hold or their are shortages of materials to produce goods.

Also I wish people would stop with the posting of empty shelves on social media. Like, yeah. we know the shelves are bare. You aren't reporting anything new, Karen.
All you are doing is fueling the panic.
Calm down and stop the nonsense posting

Yes, but trucks were delayed by over 12 hours. Typically they get deliveries overnight.

Hopefully it keeps getting better as the demand normalizes

They probably will but I would think they werent ready for things to go as quickly as they did and couldnt keep up with demand. I went shopping early this morning and there was barely any meat. A worker came out with a cart of chicken and before she could even put it on the shelves people were grabbing it. I went to target tonight and you would think the world was ending. The medicine aisle was wiped clean, no milk, no eggs.

What did you stock up on?

Chips and fun stuff for the kids like ice cream and crackers. Also breakfast stuff since I can actually give them a warm breakfast with extra time. I also gotr an extra case of hard seltzer and Mike's Hard Lemonade for DH.
Tons of veggies because i usually go shopping for fresh fruits and vegetables every 3 days or so. I won't be going out much because I have a compromised immune system.

Re: What did you stock up on?

I already had a bunch of stuff in our freezer so I got some canned soups, pasta, peanut butter, tuna, and some applesauce. We’ve really only been eating fresh veggies and organic meats I get online lately so I had zero of these things before. I also got the usual snacks, packaged deli meats and extra fresh veggies and fruits since now we will all be home for lunch.

I plan on making a big veggie soup today and will freeze some. I’m also making corned beef and cabbage just for my immediate family since we canceled our larger family gathering.

Re: What did you stock up on?

I’m hoping that so many people stocked up over the last 3 days that by next week the stores will be able to recover. Supplies are still coming in and this frenzied demand should reduce in intensity. I’m not planning on buying anything except fresh produce and milk at this point but will likely go to the smaller produce market and even that I can go for awhile without. So far the local produce place has been fine.

What did you stock up on?

I tried not to go crazy, but we do have 5 kids, ranging in ages from 3-8, (all home for the next week, at least), so I did have a little more in my cart than I usually do. For the kids I made sure to have plenty of fruit, goldfish, cheese, yogurt, milk, oatmeal, waffles, pringles, pasta, and granola bars. Frozen veggies, ground beef, steaks, chicken, and ice cream. Beer for DH, as he likes a bottle while watching TV at night.

What did you stock up on?

I pretty much bought my normal things. I picked up 2-3 extra cans of black beans and 3 cans of tuna. I actually bought no meat as my freezer is stuffed!

Don’t people shop regularly. Makes no sense to me. I also bought toilet paper since we only had two rolls left and with everyone home it’ll go faster than usual. The lady next to me bought 12 rolls even though she said she probably had 15 at home. I told her that wasn’t really necessary.

I bought some extra beans, rice, broth, and pasta. Stiff we will eat anyway. Oh, and an extra container of oatmeal.
Shelf stable milk-w didn't drink regular milk anyway so again, a few extra cartons of almond milk will be used.

Extra snacks... Figure with kids being home, let's indulge a little.

And coffee. Priorities people. Don't get me wrong, I'm still visiting Starbucks and dunkin but... Lord help my family if I can't get my coffee.

It's nice to see people are as disgusting and uncivilized as ever. I hope they're at least keeping the like 6 ft of distance between them and the store worker while they claw at the toilet paper and raw chicken being wheeled out to restock. A little decency and respect to the people who aren't able to work from home while they're still having to deal with a rabid public screaming over expired coupons and big macs with pickles even though they demanded no pickles.

Re: What did you stock up on?

They are limiting paper products here. You can only buy a certain amount at one time. They have shut some borders.

Today is Sunday, so I haven't been out at the shops (everything is closed on Sundays).
