What did you stock up on?
I’ve been slowly stocking up on things for the past 2 weeks. I’m not talking buying 30 million TP rolls...
I went to the supermarket today and the whole fresh produce and meat section were completely gone (I went to the cheap supermarket, Lidl (like Aldi). Pasta, canned goods, and dairy were gone, too. I usually just eat a protein and a veg. Or I’ll have a meal with bread and ham. That’s all I need.
So I have bought:
Cat food Cat litter (night need to order more, but I’m afraid after the delivery man yelled at me because it was too heavy; I bought 4 bags) Frozen veg Protein to freeze (salmon, chicken, turkey, pork) Pasta Pesto Canned goods: tomatoes and beans Shelf stable milk (it’s a thing here, but I need more) Yogurt Granola A normal supply of toilet paper (20 rolls). One loaf of bread Lots of packages of Speck (like prosciutto) from Austria Nuts Wine, lol Cheese
I already have a supply of flour and eggs that I normally have. I use that to make fresh pasta and bread. All of the above are in normal supply. For example, enough for 2 weeks as I don’t have the space to keep it all.
No disinfecting things to be found here. I have a minimal supply. I work at a restaurant as a cook as a side job (vegan), so I can get some stuff there.
I would like to buy some fresh veggies, but they just don’t have them here right now .

Re: What did you stock up on?
Honestly not much.
I bought another jar each of Peanut Butter & Jelly. A few more cans of tuna. Oatmeal A few pizzas
I usually eat a lot of salads. So I can't really stock up on that.
ETS: I also have a tiny apartment and no room to store anything

Re: What did you stock up on?
Not much. We usually shop once a month so did all of our shopping in the beginning of March. I bought some extra frozen veggies and an extra can of salsa, but other than that I usually have a month supply of food anyway. Can't really buy fresh fruits and veggies for more than 10 days out anyway so that's the only thing I would need.

Re: What did you stock up on?
Nothing. I did my usual shopping a week ago. I’m due to go again on Monday. Hoping the hysteria is a little calmer so I can grab milk bread, eggs, some fresh & frozen produce - the usuals and maybe some extra soups and shelf stable stuff just to replace what we are eating this week
I keep a lot of meat in the freezer and always have pasta, sauce, rice and such in my pantry. I also always buy a huge pack of TP and paper towel and always keep disinfecting cleaners in the house, so I’m ok there too

Re: What did you stock up on?
Nothing. We have minimal groceries, and I'm okay with that. The store isn't running out of food, and I really don't think we are going to be on a nationwide lockdown where people can't leave their homes.

Yes - and i can't deal with crowds. DH wasn't thinking and went to Costco yesterday for his normal shop. He walked in, took a look at the lines, abandoned his cart and left. He said no way was he waiting on those lines. Nothing we needed was that important to wait on a line and deal with the crazies. I don't wait on lines either. So it is what it is

Yeah, I thought that, too, but the supermarket was really empty of goods today. Maybe my situation is different.

Here too but I think that's because of the panic buyers. It just needs some time to calm down and restock.

I can only hope. But it’s pretty bad here. I think the restocking will take at least a month, depending on if we go on a lockdown.

Lol I stocked up on some extra pop tarts and cereal. My sons school announced a week off next week, I wanted something for him to grab so I don’t hear “I’m hungry” every 5 seconds.

I got a few boxes of cereal but when I went to the supermarket yesterday the cereal, granola bar and pop tart selection was slim.
Probably should have restocked little bites but I think if I go to the supermarket in a couple of days things will be less crazy and restocked.

I bought enough for 2 weeks, although we probably could’ve gotten by on what was in the house. I always have some extra cereal, frozen meat, soup in the house. I have no plans to leave the house much next week. I’ll help the kids with their school packets and play in the yard.

Re: What did you stock up on?
I did buy some meat because my freezer was empty. I also bought some jars of sauce (had plenty of pasta) and some cheese. I also bought food for my grandkids because I watch them while my daughter works.

Go when the store opens. Like 7am. The store will be restocked and only 10 animals shopping vs. the 300 a few hours later.

Re: What did you stock up on?
I bought extra soup, rice, and potatoes. I also bought shelf stable almond milk, but I normally drink almond milk, so I got the brand I like but in shelf stable form. I normally get the refrigerated ones instead.
I normally keep tp, Lysol wipes, and detergent so that is my normal supply. I get it when it is on sale, and stock up.

What did you stock up on?
I just bought some extra bread because the kids will be home and want sandwiches, some shelf stable milk and the obligatory pack of toilet paper. I did do a lot of shopping for my parents because they just got home today from a 3 week trip and my mother is definitely in the "risk" category. I don't want them going out at all for a couple of weeks.

Well I was in both ShopRite and Stop & shop today and i can tell you that they were certainly out of food....i mean completely bare aisles of meat, eggs, bread, frozen. But I think my normal stock of what I keep in the freezer should be good enough.

It's not. I was in two huge supermarkets today that basically had no food.

This is what terrifies me. That stores won't restock, either because the supply chain is delayed/interrupted or because the stores will be forced to close. I don't have room in my house for months worth of food for a family of 4. :(
