NYS Unemployment

Scared. Does anyone have any insight on how this works? I tried logging in but it’s saying incorrect password and timing out. I read that I should keep refreshing the browser for a 1/2 hour, any truth or success to that?
How does it work now a days? Still have to present yourself at the office to pick up the check?
I’m sorry, I just have no idea, this is all too much to bear.

You have to create a ny gov account. If it’s saying incorrect password then you might have to reset it. The site was crashing or “timing out” all day yesterday. I think I tried over 20 times yesterday until it finally worked. You don’t have to go to an office, you can do everything online & have it sent direct deposit. Try again today, just keep trying until you get through all of it. It’s very frustrating. Both my husband and I work in live events so we both are currently unemployed with no clue when we’ll work again, it’s terrible.

No recent experience but when I collected unemployment 12 years ago I never had to go to an office or pick up a check in person. It was directly deposited even back then.
So you shouldn't have to go in

Also, I'm sure its timing out due to high traffic... unfortunately many people have lost their jobs due to this pandemic
