That's terrible news . How long can people stay in home. I saw tons of people in home depot . Talking etc. Meeting friends . Might as well open
Exactly. I can’t go to target anymore because lines are wrapped around the store to get in.
Our Target let's everyone in. You had to see it last night. No social distancing there. Packed. People are over it. They don't give a shit anymore I see less stores even bothering to enforce anything.

I guess they aren’t low enough
But it is so confusing - if you meet the 7 standards in your region you can start reopening but Pause is extended... not sure why he needed to do that since if you don’t meet the criteria you can’t enter Phase 1 so isn’t that the same as Pause?
So has anything really changed except people are more confused and angry???
We rebelled last weekend and stopped at a friends house to meet their puppy. We stayed for awhile since she had to go out so I watched her kids and puppy (it was essential) and now I have a kid with strep throat

NY Pause has been extended...again
I'm a little confused here. NBC news and other outlets are reporting the pause ordering extended through June 6th. That he signed this executive order Thursday, but the article says if by 5/15 certain criteria are met, certain regions will begin reopening. The STATE WEBSITE still has pause ended on 5/15.

The amount of frustration is indescribable.
I couldn’t tell you how Much of my now free time I spend contacting local officials. It’s literally become a job. Both to get unemployment (which I have yet to receive but got a call and “should” see something by the end of next week) and to have small businesses reopened.
I get it. The virus is deadly. It’s easily transmitted. But with the numbers rising most in people who are supposedly “home”, why aren’t we opening our businesses and letting people decide for themselves whether they want to venture into a store? Why have we had our choice made for us? I was on board in the beginning. Before we knew anything and hospitals were busting at the seems. We were asked to flatten the curve. WE HAVE DONE JUST THAT. Let us decide for ourselves what we want to do. I can go to every big box store out there and buy whatever I feel like , but I can’t go to my local stores? Why can’t I make that decision for myself? The same people walking around Home Depot and target are the same people walking around my local boutique, small business etc. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE? Why are flowers essential and dog grooming not?? What. The. Fu%k is going on
Who are you writing to/calling to voice your concerns? I want to start making noise myself. There has to be something we, as a people, can do, other than just lie down and take it. It's come to that point.
For me, in the town I live in Suffolk county, I have been contacting my district assemblyman Mike LePietri & District senator Phil Boyle that was for my unemployment.
Then I was in contact with the district assemblyman and senator for the town we have a business in district assemblyman David McDonough & district senator Kevin Thomas I also wrote to County Executive Laura Curran numerous times.
I will say, I’ve received a call back and real concern by my home district officials but for nassau county ? I’m wasting my breath. They say they’ll call back and never do. It’s always “someone is working on it” when you call to check on status. But I’ll keep trying. We put these people in office, they need to start having our backs.
Go to the ny.gov website to find your district / county officials.

Idk if anything will happen even if I write to local politicians. I feel like we are at the mercy of cuomo as he makes up his criteria and rules. I think after this you will see a lot of people leaving NY.

I wonder if he's doing this because of the situation with the kids. Maybe he wants to get a hold on that first?

Wouldn't be surprising and kind of understandable. What if the open schools and camps and this thing with the kids starts spreading, even if its not Covid related?

I just read Nassau County executive says LI may not open until end of June. Just quickly read. Not sure how true that is.

Parts of upstate will be opening this Friday. The drive in movie theater upstate is included. Something to do for those that don't live that far from it (an hour from NYC). Warwick Drive In is the name. They haven't given specifics yet, but will share them soon they said.

I listened to the press conference when Curran said it. She said her estimate--she used the term "back of the envelope"--is Nassau entering Phase 1 at the end of June.
